    Minor schedule update

-Tim and Eric will be replaced on May 25 by "Brad Neely Special" (More stuff to it, can't read)
-M-F times are slightly changed. 11.0PM-2.0AM is the same, 2.0AM-2.5AM is Stroker and Hoop (Then Mission Hill), 2.5AM-5.5AM is 11.0PM-2.0AM repeated, 5.5AM-6.0AM is Inyuasha (So basically Inyuasha has 1 slot taken away and some shows are moved down)

Too bad AS is so against airing anime outside of Saturdays, or they could've used this chance to air the Shin-Chan Star Wars special alongside the Family Guy and Robot Chicken specials.
What do you get when you put three friends in a recording booth once a week, screen old anime, and tell them to make sense of it? You get the Anime of Yesteryear Podcast! Tune in each week as we kick back and discuss anime of old, both the well-known and the obscure, as well as our thoughts on the latest developments in the world of comics. (Updates Weekly!)

My guess is that AS didn't want to preempt new episodes of American Dad, Metalocalyspe, Squidbillies, and Assy McGee. That and the special didn't do well in the ratings when it aired.

Adult Swim Anime Lines of the Night 5/17/08: American Cowards Edition

    Inuyasha (11:00)
Kid: Lady Kaeda, are you all better?
Kaede: Aye, child, almost all better.
Kid: And you’re gonna find all the jewel pieces soon, huh?
Kaede: Ha ha ha, not soon perhaps, but aye. It would help if Inuyasha and young Kagome could try and like each a little more.
Kid: They do like each other.
    Kaeda: Hmm?
Kagome: I said take it off!
Inuyasha: What if I don’t feel like it?!
    Kagome: Undress!
    Kaede: Avert ye eyes!
    Inuyasha and Kagome: Huh?
Kaede: Mayhap ye like each other more than I first thought.

    Inuyasha (11:30)
    Kagome: You stinking toad!
    Jaken: You stinking human!
Kagome: This human’s gonna kick your—
    Jaken: I don’t think so!

    Bleach
Tessai: So, are you ready for seconds yet? I wouldn’t want you to think that because you’re a moocher, you can’t ask for seconds. Come on, can I dish you up another serving of our meager meal, Mr. Mooch?
    Renji: Yeah sure.
Ururu: You’re the first one to get seconds. But don’t worry, you go right ahead Mr. Mooch.
Tessai: Come on, don’t be shy.
Renji: Well, I guess so then.
Jinta: Why stand on manners? Even a sponger like you needs seconds. Go on, eat up!
Urahara: Speaking of manners, it’s not very polite to call our guest here a moocher. How can he feel comfortable asking for seconds? Am I right, Mr. Moocher?
Renji: *Gulp!* I can’t ask for seconds!
Jinta: Oh by the way, you need to clean the front of the shop tomorrow morning, all right?
    Renji: Hey what the-?!
Jinta: After all, it’s the least you could do as a moocher, don't you think? You’re the one who wants seconds! Heh!
Tessai: Well, what do you say, Moocher? You gonna pass that bowl over?
    Ururu: It’s okay.
Renji: Thanks, but I couldn’t eat another bite.

    Death Note
President: Good morning, I’m gonna try to keep this brief.
    Aizawa: Huh?
    Kira: No way!
President: The United States will no longer oppose Kira.
    Everyone else:
Kira: Those cowards! I’ve done it! I’ve even brought America to its knees!

    Code Geass
Lelouch/Zero: Come join me. The Britannia you serve is a worthless dominion. Suzaku: Maybe that’s true, but- but this nation, it can be changed for the better, and from within.
    Zero: Changed?
Suzaku: And any ends gained through contemptible means aren’t worth anything.
Zero: Wait, where are you going?
Suzaku: My court martial begins in an hour.
Zero: Are you mad?! The only reason they are giving you a trial is to find you guilty! The judge, the prosecution and defense!
Suzaku: Rules are rules. And if I don’t go, they’ll start cracking down on Elevens and Honorary Britannians.
    Zero: But you’ll die!
    Suzaku: I don’t mind.
    Zero: Don’t be an idiot!
Suzaku: An old friend of mine used to tell me that. He’d say I was a fool; it’s my weakness I guess. I’d try to bring you in, but you’d just end up killing me. And if I’m going to die, it will be in the service of the people. Even so, I thank you for saving me.
    Zero: You fool!
    (we need a Zero smiley)

    Shin Chan
    Shin: Hey Inch-Man?
    Ench: It’s Ench-Man and I’m retired.
Shin: That’s good, ‘cause Half Inch is more like it.
Ench: What is wrong with that boy?! It only looks like that because it’s underwater and the light is refracting.
Shin: Yeaaaah, I’ll assume that’s true ‘cause that was like Hima size. [laughing]
Ench: Stop laughing! And it’s not just the optical illusion either, Shin. There’s also shrinkage to think of even if it’s hot in here because it’s cold out there. Haven’t you ever seen Seinfeld on TV?
Shin: Uh-huh, but there’s no way it was that small.
Ench: Ah! I’m not getting through to him, I have to defend my penile honor!

So, I wonder how last week's anime fanservice (Yura, Rangiku's breast comments, Misa's lingerie, Milly hitting on Shirley and Kallen's shower scene :anime::anime::anime::anime::anime::anime did in the ratings. We'll find out soon.

I was expecting Inuyasha to take up one or two of the top three slots for the Saturday ratings. Mostly because the first three seasons were good, and Inuyasha is the series that just won't die.

No Code Geass in the top three? Looks like not even nudity can bring in the viewers.

[Insert grumbling about Shonen Jump titles being on Adult Swim.]

[bump worthy]: You will download Adult Swim bumps because ASF doesn't have them.

Welcome back Toonami. I hope Adult Swim treats you better than Cartoon Network did.

Does Adult Swim really consider those good numbers? I kind of get the impression that they want over 600,000.

600,000 is too much to ask for on Saturday nights. 400,000 and up would be satisfactory.

Ah looks like people figured out when the show they want to watch is on. If they leave things as they are the numbers should remain as stable as Saturday can be (which isn't much but better than below 300k).

Even NBC can't pull above 600,000 after 2:30.

Bleach continues to establish its position as top dog on Saturdays despite its questionable age focus, and Adult Swim tetters ever closer to becoming Seth Swim. Cleavland's new show will tip the balance of power decidedly in favor of the two Seth's over WS originals when it debuts.

I'm still wondering how Family Guy followed by Bleach would do. I don't know why, but it seems Bleach would fit right in with Seth-styled lowbrow humor.

It only took 3 weeks for this run of Inuyasha to show up in the Saturday Top 3. I wonder if the looming end to the IY manga is kindling renewed interest in the TV series. Or maybe it's just people discovering Inuyasha for the first time.

Whatever the reason, the numbers show there's still life in that Dogboy. IY's strong replay value strikes again.

As to Sunday, I wish they had run the Shin-chan Star Wars special along with the others. It was every bit as good as them. (^_*)
