C&C - Lucy, Daughter Of The Devil -"Temptasia'

    Like This Thread!
I really like this episode. Satan tries to lure DJ Jesus into temptation, sorta like in the Bible. It was funny at the end Satan takes DJ Jesus to Burning man cause of the people who would be there and Becky gets all mad about it. It was really funny when the Special Father gets all high on mushrooms.

In truth for the most part this was a fairly blah episode. Well like half blah anyway. I mean Lucy really didn't do anything in this episode (besides what have three snippets of dialogue) and the stuff with the priests and the candle and the assistant DJing weren't that good. I did like most of the Jesus/Satan scenes though. So far those two characters have the best chemisty in the show (since Jon Benjamin needs someone good to rub off him to be really funny IMHO) and here it defintley showed, talking about smuching workds together and Hesus's being too long or Satan trying to act like a video retail Salesman and even Hejsus convicing him to go to Burning man and the two singing in the front seat. Funny stuff. Even the rest of the episode wasn't too good they're scenes made it at least fairly watchable.

While the last two episodes were pretty mediocre, I liked this one a lot. Lucy is a fairly boring character, IMO, so the lack of her didn't bother me at all. H. Jon Benjamin/The Devil arguing with Jesus was hilarious. The word mixing stuff was hilarious. "I'd call it a himalountain." Also, the ending was hilarious, with the Devil not recognizing his own talent. Really, the best thing about this show is H. Jon Benjamin and he was in this episode a lot, so I liked it.

I'm concerned that they aren't really using Lucy as much as they could have. This episode didn't really have her involved at all. I really like DJ Jesus's friend, he always strikes me as a Dib sort of character. No huge laughs but it was entertaining to watch and the theme song was memorable.

Meh. That's all I can really manage for this show as a whole. It's just boring.

is it wrong that this show doesn't make me laugh in the least? i mean even with Brendon Small involved, it just isn't funny at all. last week was the same dry Willy Wonka joke that's been done to death, and this week just seemed like a generic ad for Burning Man. hopefully this gets better as it goes along, but i don't know.

I did like how they essentially re-acted the "tempting of Jesus in the desert" passage in the modern setting, only with the trademark H. Jon Benjamin dialog. I wasn't around 2,000 years ago but I can't imagine Satan and Jesus having this sort of laid-back, trivial dialog with each other when so much was at stake.

Can't say this episode was especially hilarious either but it was a step in the right direction, if only slightly.

DJ Jesus and Satan are starting to become my favorite AS duo.

I'm finding it odd that Lucy is being so underused given that she's the title character.

Others have posed this query already, but I'll ask anyway: I wonder why Lucy is such an underused and underdeveloped character on her own show?

I found this episode to be very funny but if I find it funny that must mean that it was a very tame episode compared to fans.

This episode was an improvement over the first two but is still far behind the pilot. I liked how they stuck to the forty day (okay, minute) temptation story without having DJ Jesus give in (like he did in the first two episodes). The real humor was in the trivial dialogue between these two, as others posted, especially the smooshing words bit. See, but that's the thing, this bit would have been funny between almost any two characters.

I also loved the intro song for this episode. So what, is every episode going to have a different song?
    Slayer-1: "Minus 210 degrees...minus 215...minus 220. Why are you still standing?"

    Bones: "My will...will not die."
