Next Adult Cartoon To Adult Swim?

What do YOU think it should be.... besides Big O. ^_-

Actually, I think that would a perfect fit in the place of Cowboy Bebop. CB's been getting alot of runs, and putting the 13 episode long Big O series on in its place for a month or too would give CB a good rest and still not feel like they're putting in a "second string" filler 'toon in its place.

So yeah, in addition to Big O, what else do you think?

My choices:

Gasaraki, it's a really good anime. Smart, adult, only strike against it would be that it's not much fun or funny. Which would take away alot of the impact that I feel the anime trys to convey.

Neon Gensis Evangelion, perfect for Adult Swim. I believe this would wrack in more viewers than Cowboy Bebop! This anime on TV would cause a ton of contraversy, and you know contraversy means ratings!!! On top of it, it's one of my favorite animes, if a little on the screwy side.

BERSERK, easily as good as Cowboy Bebop, if not better. I'm not sure if it's been released commercially here or not, but let me tell you, it's the best fantasy anime of all time. I've not seen anything that's made my jaw drop that many times every episode. It's powerful... artful... enthralling and horrifying. This is a must see when it comes out on DVD. I've got all the fansubs of it, and I'll be for sure picking it up on DVD when it comes out. This would be my number one pick.

Big O isn't all that adult. In Japan it was aimed at the 12-18 audience. Neo G eva won't EVER air on AS in this decade, unless of course they change it to my suggestion. (see 'shows you'd like to see on AS' thread) Due to the fact the need to run it unedited. Now, basic cable has it's limits, and those nude clone-borgs would set off the 'possible-material-that-could-spoil-my-unspoiled-baby' radar of every soccer mom in the midwest. Plus, the bio-bots lose a lot of bio-bot fluid when it comes to battling, and did you see what happened to Real Folk Blues? That was gallons. This is proverbial rivers of magical, forbidden fluid, known in ancient cultures as 'censorbane'. Berserk would be good, but I've only seen a little, and CN might have trouble picking it up any time soon, seeing as DVDs aren't even out. Never heard of Gasaraki though. Lain would be really good though. Would fit perfectly into AS in my Opinion.

"The Critic" would be a wonderful addition to AS. I loved that show when it was on Fox, and I still do.

lol, I don't get why people keep bringing that show up. Its not like WS could afford it in the first place :P

Anyway, I've said it before, but I'll say it again:

Serial Experiments Lain, which is way superior to even Eva IMO (only Escaflowne and CB are better). You want a show that will really make you think? This is it. And the show's structured so that you have to watch it many times, meaning the rewatch value on the block should be very high. Unfortunately I doubt it'll ever be considered to air because its religous content is worse than Eva's (where in Eva, the religous stuff is window dressing added to make it 'cool', its actually part of the story in Lain) and the biggest reason of all is that its neither action nor comedy, something CN's never shown on the AS/Toonami block

Key the Metal Idol, which is another Eva/Lain type show (although it came out before both of them). I rank it right after Lain :P However, it has lots of nude scenes that simply can't be edited out without ruining the experience. And like Lain, its not an action or a comedy show.

Although I don't want them on as much as the 2 above, some of the stuff MTV showed a while back (Aeon Flux and the like) would always be nice, as well as Ren & Stimpy(now owned by VH1 though).

Anyway, with THREE new animes and some of those other shows like Mission Hill etc... coming to the block soon, there's no reason to get overly concerned with it getting new shows for a while :P

I'd have to suggest Rouini Kenshin. It makes a lot of sense if you think about it. It's got action and comedy, it's well animated, and best of all, it's 95 episodes. If they showed one a week, it'd last nearly two years without reruns.

But, unfortunately, controversy doesn't always mean sponsors, especially on Cartoon Network (even if it is "Adult Swim")

But neither is Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, Pilot Candidate, Yu Yu Hakusho, or 0083.



I would like to see The Maxx on AS. You know, that show on MTV a while ago.

Also, I think that Mobile Suit Gundam and 0080 would be great on Adult Swim, since kids in this country would never watch those.

Oh, and Kenshin! Maybe not the TV series, but I would love to see the OVA on there!

...you know, all kidding aside, Goldenboy COULD work on AS.

From what I saw, it has about as much perverse adult humor as Sealab 2021 (albeit a tad more or it.)


Of course, I've only seen 4-5 eps, so maybe there's an ep or two that's worse than the ones I've seen
