    Like This Thread!
Well, it's week three of the reviews.. as usual, post your thoughts on the week, and the reviews will be added to the page by next week.

I should have the pages up for last week's reviews tonight. Lots of people helped out last week, and a big thanks goes out to all of you..

(p.s. Adult Swim is airing Baby Blues out of order. Tonight's episode is #6..)

    hehe

I really liked this episode. it was like Rodney was this drug it was funny to me. The whole parents coming over in the middle of the night was kinda wierd though and i noticed Oswald from Drew Carry Show (i dunno his name or how to spell carry) was the guy in the off's voice and who knew Rodney's mob was that flexable!

    Rodney Moves In

Adult Swim premiers it's first Sophomore show.

Baby Blues bears little resemblance to it's Comic Strip roots, but it appears that they have been more or less successful in keeping the funny intact.

The show has great animation, probably the most sophisticated of the AS lineup. Wanda and Darryl are both genuinely funny and well cast. The jury is still out on the supporting cast.

The lowpoint of the series, based on this one episode, is the dream sequences. They aren't funny, and disrupt the show.

Synopsis: Wanda and Darryl discover the secret to getting Zoe to sleep at night: letting Rodney, the hellion 8 year old from next door, sleep in her crib. Soon Rodney has become one of the family, he's extorting money for this service, and all principals are made happy by this setup... except Rodney's sister.

This episode was entertaining enough, with a novel concept that they didn't even have the ability to fully explore within the 22 minutes they had. Not often that the dramatic tension of a story is derived from all parties involved being happy.

Baby Blues isn't Home Movies but it's still pretty funny.

This was great, a welcome addition to Adultswim. The jokes were great(unlike Coach Mcgurik's brilliant brilliant standup...) and the plot was good. Hopefully the rest of the episodes are this good

The episode as a whole was very funny. (*Especially listening to Rodney's family yell back and forth from different houses.) The only thing I didn't like was how the character's eyes move... It isn't ... right. Look at their irises... weird.

I didn't like that at all. I really didn't find any of the jokes funny. I really hope this show doesn't get renewed. Baby Blues is pushing the block towards mediocrity. Let's hope Williams Streen realizes what they're doing and pulls the show as soon as it's initial reign of terror ends.

It may be pushing it into mediocrity, but sadly thats a step forward.

Sure. Let's just dump every new show that comes on the block, so we can watch endless reruns of 60s Hanna-Barbera characters talking dirty! Because that's really what adult means, right? Talking dirty? Isn't it? I thought "adult cartoons" meant saying crap, damn, hell, and talking about sex! Tee hee! Hesh just said sex. I feel better knowing I'm watching material that's truly adult!

    (/sarcasm)

You know, the 18-34 demographic includes people ages 25-34, though most people think 18-34 means "8-24", as indicated in the ratings.

Do you really think all adults want to watch shock humor cartoons? Or nonsense cartoons?

There's a reason why Simpsons was the most popular primetime cartoon of the 90s. Adults like to see something close to home, not just non-sequitir.

The only "terror" here is people saying they want one of the only true adult shows to be pulled.

Maybe we SHOULD call it College Swim.

Did I mention Sealab 2021 at all? Hmm...no, I don't think I did. I'm sorry if my harsh words offended you, but that's my opinion. I consider Home Movies adult because the humor is more abstract and subtle than humor on a show like, say, Sheep In The Big City, (which my little brothers, ages 11 and 8, love) where the humor likes to present itself to you very obviously, and then ask weather if you got the joke and explain why it was funny.

Baby Blues had its moments, but overall it was a completly un-funny waste of time. I would have no problem with older Simpsons episodes coming on the block (not that it would happen) because I consider the Simpsons a well written, funny show. But this was no better than Bob Patterson.

I found it funny because ive gone through the whole baby crying kids being annoying thing. the show isnt about the baby its about how newly parents strugle with being simply parents. i dont understand how someone can actualy like that crap aqua teen hunger force and not like baby blues (not directly going to one person) but then thats just what i think.

Jeesh all this talk about adults and no one mentions cowboy bebop. I mean it has it all not just kiddy jokes but still good humor... and etc. etc.
Oh but it's anime... why must we discriminate?
All hail the greatness of Bebop.

But on a different note. I have to say that you guys are bothering me. I mean as someone said this is Adult swim. Not horny adolescent with uncontrollable hormones.... Swim
    not college swim.
give it time boys and girls. As you age so shall the greatness of Baby Blues. That should only take about 20 years for most of the audience....
    I love the show.
And whoever said that the dream sequences aren't funny should be tortured by a screaming brat in nazi Germany for a very long time.

It's already worn out its welcome, IMO. I'd rather just see it once a week, so that more content can be added to the block. Which is likely to happen anyway.

I'm not so much mad about that as I am about the fact that all the teenagers step forward and shun shows like they speak on behalf for all adults. I mean, unless you have a career in marketting, or deal with people in marketting, there's not really a way that a teen could assume what older adults want and be right about it.

The only thing I can say is that adults want something that hits close to home, but is still a little crazy and nutty so that they don't get hounded by reality.

That's why adults watch all of the FOX animated sitcoms. They're about families in weird neighborhoods undergoing some of the daily routines that adults are familiar with, or have experienced, only twisting things up so it doesn't get boring.

Right now, the second hour of Adult Swim is non-sequitir. There's nothing wrong with non-sequitir, but adults want a method to the madness, and there really isn't any reason for how Space Ghost can get to be so random, or why fast food want to save the world.

give it time boys and girls. As you age so shall the greatness of Baby Blues. That should only take about 20 years for most of the audience....
    I love the show.
I just think it should be leading the block instead of coming after Home Movies. It feels more like a 10 pm show in my mind.

And whoever said that the dream sequences aren't funny should be tortured by a screaming brat in nazi Germany for a very long time.
I felt the dream sequences were the show's only flaw. And that's because it felt like I was watching Doug. And I don't like Doug.

I guess I can see why some people might think it was funny, but I did not really find it very funny. And to Matt, there was nothing dramatically different about this show that makes it more adult than some of the other shows on Adult Swim. Maybe I will like it over time but it didn't make a good first impression on me. Oh well =\.

Twentysomething parents trying to raise a newborn = adult focused show

Vintage H-B characters saying profanities and alluding to sex = teen focused show

The 10 and 12 pm hours are the only ones I can get post-college adults to sit through.

Personally, I hated Baby Blues. I didn't laugh once through the entire episode.
