I always pick up the Space Ghost comic books. If you like Space Ghost, and don't read comics, I cannot recommend enough SEEK THESE BACK ISSUES OUT! The Space Ghost issues are always the highlight of DC's Cartoon comics. The writing is top notch, the stories extremely imaginative and the creativity is heads and shoulders above most of the comics out there.

Okay, I'm a complete philistine. I haven't read any of them! So, for this latecomer's benefit, could you let me know which CN comic books had Space Ghost in them, so I can pick 'em up?

Brian's Guide to Space Ghost: Coast to Coast Comics

The first SG:C2C comic was produced in-house at Cartoon Network. It was given to employees, cable affiliates, and people who wrote to the address shown at the end of each episode (which is how I got mine). Here it is:

The issue is reveals the origin of the show; Space Ghost decided to become a talk show host to save Earth form the brutal "talk show wars". The art is pretty bad, but the story is interesting. The comic is only 8 pages, and is "golden age" sized, if you ever plan on bagging it.

The 2nd SG:C2C comic was issue #2 of "Cartoon Network Presents" (Sep 97):

Bad story + bad art = total waste of time. For completists only. "CN Presents" lasted 24 issues, and only that one featured Space Ghost.

But then, a breath of fresh air! For the new "Cartoon Network Starring" series, it was decided that every 3rd (or so) issue would fetaure an SG:C2C story written and drawn by the people who actually make the show! Hallelujah! Behold these masterpieces of comic book comedy:

Cartoon Network Starring #4 (Dec 99):

Cartoon Network Starring #9 (May 00):

Cartoon Network Starring #12 (Aug 00):

Cartoon Network Starring #15 (Nov 00):

Cartoon Network Starring #18 (Feb 01):

After issue #18, CN Starring was renamed "Cartoon Cartoons", but the SG issues kept coming...

    Cartoon Cartoons #3 (May 01):

    Cartoon Cartoons #6 (Sep 01):

And, of course, the upcoming Cartoon Cartoons #10, which is mentioned at the beginning of this thread. If I had more time, I'd review all of these issues, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Good luck finding them though! Hardly any comic stores keep back issues of animation-based comics.

Slag, Brian! I was gonna do that!! You gotta stop working yourself so hard!

There are a couple you might want to check out if you are shopping for Space Ghost comics:

This is a Little Big Book that is rather interesting.

    and, from Comico:

This has a nice retro feel to it and great artwork by Steve Rude.

And, if you can afford it, the first issue of Space Ghost #1 from Gold Key comics is a treasure to have, tho I don't have it.

And these comics are all on sale at www.milehighcomics.com for the holidays.

Ah, gracias, you two! I actually stumbled into CN Starring #9 and got a big kick out of it, so I know that these were things I need to expose my brain to.

Thanks for adding those, Calhoun. I wasn't sure if Hatter wanted only SG:C2C comics, or if he wanted classic SG as well. You covered some of the classics, but there's also this one-shot published by Archie Comics in 1997:

The first story features SG, Jan, Jace and Blip against Brak and Tansut. The second story is a Space Ghost & Dino Boy team-up.

All the SG:C2C comics I mentioned before all still available at www.milehighcomics.com, and are 30% off till the end of the year.

I have that issue. It's in good condition. Not for sale though.

I don't think Mile High has it. I bought it when it came out, over 4 years ago now.

Considering that Mile High's goal is to LITERALLY have every single comic book in stock, I am sure they will get it.
