    On the End of Bebop

    Like This Thread!
I'm starting the thread myself this time.

Since the last episode of Bebop is playing tonight, what are everyone's reactions to the ep in particular and parting thoughts on the series as a whole?

And I'm pretty sure there're going to be reactions about this one. . .

I won't say too much about it as not to post any spoilers for those who have yet to see it, but I think it's a fitting finale to such an incredible series. I was never quite able to listen to the songs from this episode in quite the same way again when I play my Cowboy Bebop soundtracks. It's very impressive. Be sorry if you miss it!

I consider the ending of Bebop the best conclusion to an animated series ever, except perhaps "The Maxx." There is some controversy about the ending, obviously, but I don't think it could have ended any other way.

I just got done watching and I must say.......Wow. What a way to end a series! Like someone said on a older post, I don't see how it could of ended any other way. It was still too bad about Spike though.

If I had to rate that ending, I'd give it a 10/10. The series itself was pretty good, some episodes were a bit slow though. All in all, I enjoyed the whole thing.

I, too, thought the ending was very appropriate. Overall, I think this series has the best "everyman" appeal as it skips between different genres. There's something in it for everybody, I think, and it manages to be innovative at times as well.

Anyone see the "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" Cowboy Bebop movie that just came out? Does it continue the story?

Hmph. Coward. You weren't afraid to be frank on the CNX or UAS forums.

I haven't seen it yet, but according to official sources it takes place between episodes 22 and 23.

Well, I'm sorry if my opinion does not match yours, but your response is the exact reason why I don't want to keep talking about it. I'm glad that you like it, and I don't, but no person is more right than the other, so let's just leave it at that. I was frank on the OTA and UAS boards, and maybe I regret that now, but I'm not trying to outright insult the episode.

If you want me to say something about it in here, then fine. I thought the ending didn't match the buildup. Even as the show had only been about 15 episodes into the series, I could feel a tension growing. And the way they focused so much on individual characters, you would think they'd at least finish those mini stories that they start.

It's akin to playing Metal Gear Solid 2 for the first time, expecting to play as Snake, and then finding out that you DON'T play as Snake at all.

Sorry if I sounded insulting or something, I guess I forgot the smiley >> I'm curious as to why you don't like the ending and would be interested to discuss it - your other posts really don't give out much info. I wasn't trying to call you a bum or something for not liking it, I would just like to have a healthy debate. I guess you don't, or you wouldn't be so defensive about it. Consider the matter dropped -- unless you change your mind, that is. ^_^

RFB pt. II appeared lightly edited compared to part I, which had almost all the blood mopped up.

I wonder if Bandai pressured Williams Street to edit their shows as not to suffer loss of $$$ for DVD/video sales?

Actually, 95% of the blood that WAS there was excised. It's just that there isn't as much blood in RFB II as there is in RFB I.

I say if you have a differing opinion on the end of the series, just post it. I think we are mature enough here to agree to disagree. Just as long as nobody turns it into a flame war, we will be ok.

That's true, though when you've formulated an opinion, 9/10 times people can't change it. Heck, I had problems with _Escaflowne_ and despite me understanding its supporters, my opinion of it remains the same.

I don't know. I've changed my opinion about several different shows and other things in my time. It seems that there are somethings I thought I hated that I wound up liking and then there are other things I instantly liked that later I just got sick of. So I think people's opinions can change if they see something in a different light, but I suppose you have to be more open minded. Or maybe I am in the 1/10 group!

Well, I've started series where I did not like them initially, only to fall in love with them after watching a few more episodes.

I only saw the last three sessions of Cowboy Bebop. But, man, those three shows ruled. I loved it. Very cool. The show just seems to ooze style.

Newbie to the board. Howdy, folks.

I've heard rumors and read up a bit on the ending of Cowboy Bebop. I thought I was prepared, but I wasn't. The series finale just blew me away, even though I was anticipating (and dreading) the ending. Like runamuck, I only saw some of the last episodes, like "Hard Luck Woman" (another almost tear-jerker), but I loved all of them. Much as I hated to see the series end, I think it was a fitting one. Just about everyone got the closure he or she wanted.
