Urge to kill thinly veiled Fantasy Schedule thread rising....![]()
Adult Swim has proven to be one of CN's most profitable endevors. In which case it really does make sense to give the programing block it's own channel some day. Maybe sooner than later.
I'm not even going to bother with a whole schedule but just filling slots on a Adult Swim channel could be difficult. So I thought rather than overstaturate the schedule with multiple reruns (per day) of the ASC comedies that maybe WS would use some more adult favored series that were on other parts of Cartoon Network.
Weekends would be mostly premieres and random shows here and there but this is what I think a weekday schedule might look like.

While not all of these shows have been on Adult Swim most of the ones that haven't have gotten a good responce from older viewers and lets face it... Turner would be weary of putting on most of Adult Swim's typical content durring the time kids aren't in school (other than prime time that is, but that can't be helped). But don't you just love what I have on there as an option to watch instead of Miguzi? I know I do and I know plenty of teenagers that would agree.

I happen to disagree with a lot of this post, as I don't think an Adult Swim channel would work or do well. But to point out my biggest beef, you choose Cow & Chicken and I Am Weasel as "adult-favored" CC's, but NOT Powerpuff Girls? Criminal!
Also, there's just not enough programming for an Adult Swim channel, even if you drag in lots of not-AS things. It would get old very quickly.

I'd honestly rather wait for the DVDs for all these shows then to pay for an Adult Swim Channel.
In answer:
NO.
Let's have a poll.
All in favor of having Adult Swim removed from Cartoon Network and placed on a separate network that only two states will get to see for the first year, expanding to four states in three years, say aye?
All not in favor?
Ouch, was it necessary for everyone to yell? Jesus.
I'd rather have the adult swim channel than some preschool channel, I really hope the preschool block fails so boomerang stays.Originally Posted by Matt Wilson

The more it gets brought up the more I hate the idea of an Adult Swim channel...
Adult Swim is like candy. Its great once in a while, but too much will rot your teeth.

I think it's a bad idea when you think about it. If CN was to make a network devoted to AS and remove the block entirely from its own schedule, that would irk many viewers. To lose viewers by doing that would be bad if in this case, it was only available to only Digital subscribers. After all, there is a huge majority of folks out there that can't get access to Boomerang, so why make a AS network which would probably be only available to Digital subscribers. But then again, it may not be like that, since CN is in a goldmine in ratings with the block as it is.

I'm not a TV exec, but I don't think creating channels is something you do just because you have some spare shows lying around.
Secondly, CN presumeably pays a lot of people a lot of money to decide what would be profitable and what wouldn't. I don't want to call your business credentials into question, Hyper Sensei, but you may want to consider the fact that CN has its own team of suits analyzing lots and lots of figures to determine whether or not stuff like this would work.

Seeing as how Cartoon Network has no intention of keeping Boomerang, AS could replace that.
Maybe an AS/Toonami hybrid?
Holy crap.
