by on February 16, 2011

Berkeley Breathed, author of Mars Needs Moms (coming out as an animated film from Disney), has set up his novel Flawed Dogs at DreamWorks Animation. The story is about a dachshund who, after being wronged by an envious show dog, tries to win back the affections of his family .

“All my stories are sparked by a nugget of truth hiding in plain sight. In this case, it’s that all animals dream… but only dogs dream of us.” said Berkley of his story.

Berkeley is best known for creating the 1980s comicstrip featuring Opus the Penguin, Bloom County. The film has Berkeley Breathed attached as executive producer, but no writer or director is attached to the project yet.
