Kirch Upped to DisneyToon Studios VP

Toon Disney has promoted B. Susan Kirch to vice-president, creative affairs, for DisneyToon Studios, according to AWN. Kirch will develop original scripts and stories as well as sequels to other Disney properties.

"Morir de Amor" Takes Anima '05 Prize

Gil Alkabetz’s short “Morir de Amor” took home the Grand Jury Prize at the Anima ’05 animation festival in Cordoba, Argentina, AWN reports. Other honorees at the competition include Romain Sigaud’s “Bip-Bip,” Igor Coric’s “Three Feathers and a Rainworm,” and Bill Plympton’s “Guard Dog.”

Three More "Spider-Man" Films on the Way

Sci Fi Wire reports that Sam Raimi, who is currently in preproduction on Spider-Man 3, let slip that Sony is planning three more Spider-Man films and that he would consider directing all of them. Spider-Man 3 is set for release on May 4, 2007.

Studio Ghibli Film Festival at UC Berkeley Art Museum

Nausicaa.net is reporting a Studio Ghibli film festival running from June 2 to June 30 at the University of California at Berkeley Art Museum.
