I know, I know! You're wondering how this can't be my No.1. I mean, this is Ocarina of Time! The game that many consider to be the greatest game of all time! And yet it's only No.2 for?
It's honestly not because this game didn't impress me, it's just I liked my No.1 better. That being said, this was incredibly close.
What is there to say that hasn't already been said about Ocarina of Time? In a generation that was still learning how to grow games and make them true spectacles OOT did both in one shot. From a standard start, to a seven year leap, to going back and forth in time to help save the world, it was all epic.
It's not hard to wonder why many consider this greatest game of all time. Think of all the iconic imagery we get from this game. When we think of Link, Zelda, or Ganon? We think of their OOT version. Sheik was created in OOT, Epona was created in OOT. We had our first 3D boss battles that would set the tone many of the future Zelda games, and it all started with near perfection here.
Ocarina of Time will always been legendary, and a true statement game for a franchise that was already in a league of its own.
