Two films based on video games – “Assassin’s Creed” and “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell” – are among the most highly anticipated films of next year and beyond by the gaming crowd and good news came their way as gamemaker Ubisoft announced that they had added producer basil Iwanyk to the film’s roster at the Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3] in Los Angeles.
Iwanyk’s street cred is good as he has been the producer of both “Expendables” flicks as well as “Wrath of the Titans”. Iwanyk joins Tom Hardy [who played the villain in the last Batman/Dark Knight film], who has already been cast in the lead role of Sam Fisher, a special ops badass working for a special anti-terrorist group called Echelon, whose purpose is to neutralize other terrorist and other threats by those with nasty intentions.
“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell” has sold 23 million copies of the series since its debut 11 years ago and the movie is expected to be released in either late 2014 or early 2015.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is held at the Convention Center in Los Angeles from June 11-13, 2013.
