This Friday, it’s on. How is it on? Glad you asked.
It’s on like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which releases for the Wii U. The new game brings with it Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Funky, and even, for the first time in the series as a playable character, Cranky Kong for your barrel blasting, banana munching pleasure.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, sees the Kongs on a quest to unfreeze their island home, which has been put on ice by baddies called the Snowmads. In single-player Donkey Kong can team up with Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky through varied and unique stages, and each supporting character has their own special moves, like Cranky’s cane bounce that lets him navigate spikes with the unflappable disdain of the elderly, that they can add to Donkey Kong’s powers. Funky runs the shop and sells special items. Even Rambi the Rhino is back for the characters to ride.
The game also lets you take on the adventure with a friend in local co-op multiplayer, with one player controlling Donkey Kong and another directly controlling of his allies. And you can pit your level times and other accomplishments against other players with online leaderboards. One new feature allows players who achieve time attack medals to upload a video of their run for other players to see.
“The games in the Donkey Kong Country series have always entertained audiences of all ages and skill levels with their breathtaking visuals and fun and challenging game play,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing in a Nintendo press release. “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze continues this rich legacy with a memorable adventure that’s only available on Wii U.”
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be available in stores and for download on the Nintendo Wii U eShop for $49.99.
