Disney Channel has announced ratings highlights for 2006.
For the year, Disney Channel finished as basic cable’s second-most-watched network in primetime in Total Viewers. Disney Channel also stood as basic cable’s No. 1 network in prime for the fourth year running in Kids 6-11, and for the sixth year running in Tweens 9-14. On a 24-hour programming basis (Monday-Sunday, 6:00am-6:00am), Disney Channel finished 2006 as basic cable’s No. 1 network in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14.
The year of 2006 now stands as the most-watched year on record for the Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney block, with the daypart delivering all-time high numbers in Total Viewers in Kids 2-5, Girls 2-5, Boys 2-5, and Women 18-49. In addition, Playhouse Disney series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ranked among the Top 10 series on all basic cable in Kids 2-5.
Compared with 2005 numbers, Disney Channel grew 20% in Primetime in Total Viewers, 25% in Kids 6-11, and 26% in Tweens 9-14. In Total Day, Disney Channel increased 19% in Total Viewers, 29% in Kids 6-11, and 28% in Tweens 9-14.
