Universal/Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 2 took in an estimated $25.06 million at the box office in its third week of release, bringing its domestic total to $276.16 million and placing it just behind the #1 box office draw for the weekend (Warner Bros. The Conjuring, which took in an estimated $41.53 million). However, Despicable Me 2‘s success may have been at the expense of DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo, which took a disappointing $21.5 million (estimated) in its premiere weekend and $31.2 million if Wednesday and Thursday grosses are added to the movie’s total so far. The opening represents the slowest start for a DreamWorks movie since Flushed Away (which earned $18.81 million in its opening weekend in 2006).
