Romano Scarpa 1927 - 2005

Disney comic book artist Romano Scarpa passed away on the morning of April 23 at the age of 77. Scarpa wrote many of the Italian Disney comics from 1953 to the 1970’s.

Museum Hosts Looney Tunes Exhibit

The James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylsetown, Pennsylvania, will host “That’s All Folks! The Art of Warner Brothers Cartoons” through July 3, the museum says. The exhibit, curated by author Stephen Schneider, will feature more than 160 drawings, cels, paintings and related items. (via CookieS)

Pink Panther Gets July DVD Date

MGM will release the Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection to DVD on July 26 with a retail price of $69.96. Animated Bliss has all the details.

CHAMP Gets Jetix

South Korea’s CHAMP animation channel—which is set to launch on May 2—will carry a branded Jetix block under a deal with Buena Vista International Television, World Screen reports. The one-hour block will air weekdays and feature W.I.T.C.H., Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, and A.T.O.M. Alpha Teens on Machines.

Bidder Walks Away from HIT

HIT Entertainment says that an unidentified company—widely reported to be Classic Media—is no longer pursuing takeover talks with HIT, the Associated Press reports. Lions Gate is continuing to pursue a due diligence review.

CN Halloween DVD Coming in August

Cartoon Network Halloween 2: Grossest Halloween Ever will be released to DVD on August 9, DVDToons reports. The release will feature five Halloween and four bonus episodes drawn from such signature Cartoon Network shows as Billy & Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Dexter’s Laboratory. It will retail for $14.97.
