D23 2009: John Lasseter Sets the Record Straight on "Ant-Man," Pixar Sequels

by on September 14, 2009

In the last week, rumors had circulated that Pixar was thinking of producing a feature based on the Marvel Ant-Man comics, a project that has been in development for the past several years, most recently with director and writer Edgar Wright on board. At a D23 press conference, Disney/Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter responded to those rumors: “I had met all the folks from Marvel a couple of times and they’re terrific. The whole Ant-Man thing is just a rumor.”

With Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 in active production, Toon Zone directly asked Lasseter about the possibility of sequels to popular Pixar films such as Monsters Inc. and The Incredibles. Lasseter stated: “That’s a great question. Unfortunately, I can’t answer that question . . . We’re very excited about the ones that we’ve announced.”
