HELLBLAZER: HAUNTED
TRADE PAPERBACK

When John Constantine becomes haunted by ghosts from the past, can he find a way to put them to rest?

Click For Larger Image     Collecting the first powerful HELLBLAZER story arc written by Warren Ellis, the acclaimed co-creator of TRANSMETROPOLITAN, THE AUTHORITY, MEK and GLOBAL FREQUENCY, HELLBLAZER: HAUNTED is a 144-page VERTIGO trade paperback that finds John Constantine at home in a changing London, looking to the past. As usual, it's not a pretty sight…

Featuring art by John Higgins (WAR STORY: D-DAY DODGERS) and a cover by Tim Bradstreet, HAUNTED collects HELLBLAZER #134 through #139 and begins with Constantine reading about the death of an old friend named Isabel Bracknell. Constantine does some digging to find out what led her to die in a filthy squat in Brixton, and who did the job. Calling in favors from his loose band of associates, he begins to piece together his friend's last days. But these inquiries soon earn Constantine a savage beating from the self-styled "magician" responsible for Isabel's death.

After that, well, Constantine figures that he knows just what to do so Isabel can rest in peace...

HELLBLAZER: HAUNTED is a 144-page VERTIGO trade paperback, and is suggested for mature readers. It arrives in comic-book stores January 2 with a cover price of $12.95 U.S.

THE SANDMAN PRESENTS: BAST

Faced with the oblivion that eventually comes to all gods, Lady Bast — once the object of veneration in ancient Egypt —attempts to make a comeback. But to what extreme will a fading cat goddess go to ensure her continued adulation?

Click For Larger Image     THE SANDMAN PRESENTS: BAST is a 3-issue VERTIGO miniseries written by Caitlîn R. Kiernan (THE DREAMING, THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE DEATH) with art by Joe Bennett (Amazing Spider-Man, Elektra) and covers by Dave McKean (THE SANDMAN, THE DREAMING) that finds Lady Bast — the sexy Egyptian cat goddess from THE SANDMAN: SEASON OF MISTS storyline — dying. Her skin, once taut and sumptuous, is now sagging. Her powers are dwindling. A goddess is only as strong as her believers, and the time of the cat goddess has long since faded into the sand. In her crumbling Egyptian halls, Bast seeks one final believer — a small-town girl named Lucy — in an attempt to rebuild her following, her physicality and, ultimately, her powers.

A plethora of cats, two rebellious teenagers and one small town become caught in the crossfire in THE SANDMAN PRESENTS: BAST, a haunting portrait of power, corruption and innocence lost.

This project is supported with house and trade ads.

THE SANDMAN PRESENTS: BAST is a 3-issue VERTIGO miniseries edited by Shelly Bond and is suggested for mature readers. The 32-page issue #1 arrives in comic-book shops January 2 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.

WAR STORY: CONDORS

1938 — before World War II engulfed Europe, all eyes were on the Spanish Civil War. It was a war of fascism versus socialism, dictator versus king, Germany versus Europe, and everyone was choosing sides. What happens when a Spaniard, a German, an Irishman, and an Englishman find themselves trapped in the same foxhole?

Click For Larger Image     Their story is told in WAR STORY: CONDORS, the third installment in a 4-part series of 64-page VERTIGO one-shots, written by Garth Ennis (PREACHER, HITMAN, Punisher) with art by Carlos Ezquerra (ADVENTURES IN THE RIFLE BRIGADE). And just as he did with the first highly acclaimed series of WAR STORY books, Ennis delivers a combination of grit and personality that has rocketed him to the top of the comics field.

CONDORS tells the tale of four very different soldiers who all want the same thing: to win their war. As battles rage outside of Madrid, the men — each with his own world view and reasons for fighting — find themselves face-to-face with the enemy as they all take cover in the same foxhole. With little water or food and just one pistol among them, they must figure out how to survive the night…and each other.

This project is supported with house ads.

WAR STORY: CONDORS is a 64-page VERTIGO one-shot edited by Will Dennis and is suggested for mature readers. It arrives in comic-book stores January 8 with a cover price of $4.95 U.S.

THE WITCHING HOUR
TRADE PAPERBACK

Click For Larger Image     For those who walk in the wark, cavort with the wicked or fall prey to desires, THE WITCHING HOUR is no stranger.

The atmostpheric miniseries by award-winning writer Jeph Loeb (BATMAN, BATMAN: DARK VICTORY) with art by Chris Bachalo (STEAMPUNK, DEATH: THE HIGH COST OF LIVING) and Art Thibert (Ultimate X-Men) is now available in a softcover edition featuring a section of sketches by Bachalo.

The setting is Manhattan, where the mysterious Amanda Collins moves through the troubled lives of ordinary people armed with little more than a blank white business card and a strange, supernatural presence. She's giving them the chance to change their lives, but the choice they make will depend entirely on the forces that already exist in their hearts. Amanda herself is a mesmerizing presence and, as she works modern magic with the help of a colorful — if not entirely loyal — coterie of followers, another side of her begins to emerge: one that is troubled, powerful and possibly centuries old. At the crossroads of the supernatural and the very real, THE WITCHING HOUR spins bold, provocative tales of sin, magic and redemption.

This project is supported with house ads.

THE WITCHING HOUR is a 160-page VERTIGO trade paperback and is suggested for mature readers. It arrives in comic-book stores January 29 with a cover price of $19.95 U.S.
