MEK
Tattoos, piercings, even brandings — each of these fetishes began as an
underground subculture and have exploded onto the mainstream of today. So
what will be the hottest next trend among the youth of the future?
Mechanical enhancements. Elective cyborging. A bizarre technology used for
effect that is called simply MEK.
MEK
is a 3-issue miniseries from HOMAGE COMICS, brought to you by the
imaginative mind of writer Warren Ellis (TRANSMETROPOLITAN, PLANETARY,
GLOBAL FREQUENCY), and featuring the crisp art of Steve Rolston (Queen
& Country) & Al Gordon (TOM STRONG). Sarissa Leon, one of the
progenitors of MEK culture, has returned home to Sky Road to find the city
overrun with these technological marvels — her “cyborg children.”
But
these aren’t your clean-lined cyborgs of videogames and popular movies.
These are weird, spiky, buzzing, sexy, scary, transgressive people. Like
any youth culture in its early iteration, it’s kind of unsettling...
Now
Sarissa has found her former lover RJ Coin — another one of the original
MEK developers — shot to death. She’s determined to find out who is
responsible and the reasons he was murdered. But will she have the
strength to follow the trail to its conclusion?
This
project is supported with house and trade ads, and a minisite at
www.dccomics.com.

DESPERADOES: QUIET OF THE GRAVE
TRADE PAPERBACK
Gideon Brood and his eclectic band of Desperadoes return in a collection
of the 5-issue HOMAGE COMICS miniseries that was nominated for
International Horror Guild and Bram Stoker awards! DESPERADOES: QUIET
OF THE GRAVE is a 128-page trade paperback from acclaimed writer Jeff
Mariotte and legendary artist John Severin (who provides a new cover),
featuring an introduction by Brian Keene — horror writer, novelist and
Stoker Award-winner (for the nonfiction Jobs in Hell).
QUIET
OF THE GRAVE picks up the story of the Desperadoes — Brood, Jerome Betts,
Abby DeGrazia, and Race Kennedy — as they relax in the small town of
Luttrell in the Arizona Territory following the events of their first
appearance in A MOMENT’S SUNLIGHT. With a price still on their heads for
an accidental shooting in New Mexico, however, their peace is naturally
short-lived. When Brood must kill a young would-be bounty hunter, his
anger with the danger he’s put his friends in forces him to try to leave
them behind. Of course, neither Brood nor his friends give up on anything
easily, and soon Race and Abby are hot on his trail, while Betts searches
for his new object of affection…now the bait in a real hunter’s trap.
But
while a chance encounter with a slick-talking treasure hunter reunites
them in time to turn the tables on their hunter, what waits for them back
in Luttrell is much, much worse — and bullets just won’t kill it.
This
project is supported with house ads.
DESPERADOES: QUIET OF THE GRAVE is a 128-page HOMAGE COMICS trade
paperback, arriving in comic-book stores November 20 with a cover price of
$14.95 U.S.
Meanwhile, 15 years later…
ZERO GIRL II
Amy
Smootster and Tim Foster are back! And they’re pretty much where they left
off. But this time the obstacle to their affections is of an entirely
different sort.
Sam Kieth, the popular writer/artist of FOUR WOMEN, The Maxx and
Wolverine/Hulk, is back with another 5-issue miniseries featuring the
wild, quirky, and truly original concept that proved to be a critical hit!
ZERO GIRL II continues the misfit adventures of Amy and her unusual
and strange abilities.
When
we last saw Amy, she was coming of age in high school — where her habits
of talking to insects and leaving spontaneous puddles of water at her feet
weren’t exactly winning any friends. Amy’s mad crush on her counselor Tim
wound up going nowhere, and readers were left pondering whether the two
would ever wind up happily ever after.
Now,
several years later, Amy is trying to use Tim’s stepdaughter to get to the
man she still hasn’t let go of. This, ironically, forms an unintentional
triangle for a woman whose life has been dominated by circles and squares.
What else would you expect from Zero Girl?
ZERO
GIRL II offers a striking visual experience and poignant story, where the
only thing you can be certain of is to expect the unexpected.
This
project is supported with house ads.
ZERO
GIRL II is a 5-issue HOMAGE COMICS miniseries edited by Scott Dunbier. The
32-page issue #1 arrives in comic-book stores November 6 with a cover
price of $2.95 U.S.
