Rescuing a mad world
GLOBAL FREQUENCY
There
are 1001 people on the Global Frequency, connected across a worldwide
telecommunications spider web from Nova Scotia to Tasmania. You’ll never
know when you’ll get the call, but when you do you have 30 minutes to save
the world. Global Frequency — the last, best line of defense that you have
never heard of. And if you’re lucky, you never will.
WildStorm Productions is proud to present a bold new project from the
fertile imagination of writer Warren Ellis (THE AUTHORITY,
TRANSMETROPOLITAN). GLOBAL FREQUENCY is a 12-issue maxiseries with
each issue drawn by a different, brilliant comics artist suited to that
issue. Issue #1 features art by Garry Leach (THE AUTHORITY, Miracleman),
and future contributors include Steve Dillon, Gene Ha, Glenn Fabry, and
David Lloyd. Brian Wood designs and creates the distinctive covers for all
12 issues.
Global Frequency is an independent defense intelligence organization with
a thousand and one agents all over the world. Everyone’s a potential
member but they don’t know they’re needed until they hear that unusual
cell phone tone — and within moments, you might see them leaving their
house in a hurry, wearing a jacket or shirt with the distinctive Global
Frequency symbol. It’s now their time to defend the world!
Who’s
on the other end of the phone line? The call itself comes from Aleph,
central dispatcher for the Global Frequency, and she gets her orders from
Miranda Zero (not her real name, but the only one you’re getting), creator
and operator of the organization. Her true identity was erased from the
world’s records the moment she went into business.
And
the Global Frequency’s mission? It’s here to clean up after the 20th
century — to keep an eye on the bad, mad things in the dark that the
public never found out about. All the black projects, the deranged
science, the chilly encounters with the unknown, the Cold War traps —
they’re all sitting there like landmines. Eventually someone will trip
over one of them. The Global Frequency is there to catch them when they
fall, and defuse the mines before they explode into mainstream
consciousness, causing more pain and horror than they have already.
So
who will be the next person to answer the Global Frequency? There’s only
one way to find out…
This
project is supported with a full-color poster, house and trade ads, and a
minisite at www.dccomics.com.
GLOBAL FREQUENCY is a 12-issue WildStorm Productions maxiseries edited by
Scott Dunbier. The 32-page issue #1 arrives in comic-book stores October
23 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.

STAR TREK:
THE NEXT GENERATION® — FORGIVENESS
SOFTCOVER
Colin
Blakeney, 21st-century inventor of the technology that will give the world
the transporter and the holodeck, is the victim of a treacherous attack
that beams him out of his world and into…forever.
So begins STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION® FORGIVENESS — a softcover
version of WildStorm Productions’ acclaimed hardcover, written by
bestselling science fiction novelist David Brin (The Postman, the
Uplift Storm trilogy, Brightness Reef, Glory Season)
and beautifully painted by Scott Hampton (BATMAN: NIGHT CRIES, Black
Widow: Breakdown).
Three
hundred years after Blakeney’s disappearance, the crew of the U.S.S.
Enterprise™ NCC-1701-E detect a stray transporter beam in deep space.
On their way to an encounter with the Palami — a hostile race that may be
preparing for interstellar war — Captain Picard and his crew have other
things on their minds. But when they realize that there’s a living being
inside the wayward beam, they bring it aboard — and encounter a mystery
for the ages!
With
the sure fictional hand and scientific expertise his legions of readers
have come to expect, Brin turns his attention to the universe of Star
Trek® — and to the comics medium — for the first time. Hampton’s
painted artwork on other comics projects has won accolades from fans
around the world and has established his reputation as one of the finest
painters working in the graphic-novel medium. FORGIVENESS is a masterly
work that must not be missed by any fan of Star Trek, arresting
comics art or great science fiction.
This
project is supported with house ads.
STAR
TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION® — FORGIVENESS is a 96-page WildStorm softcover
edited by Jeff Mariotte. It arrives in comic-book stores October 2 with a
cover price of $17.95 U.S.

English!

EVIL: FIRE & ICE), BOOK THREE finds Claire Redfield captured and locked in
an island prison by agents of the evil Umbrella corporation. But when the
Umbrella-created monstrosities on the island get loose, Claire wins her

THE
AUTHORITY: TRANSFER OF POWER
TRADE PAPERBACK
Just
when the Authority is at the height of their power, they are shattered and
defeated in the blink of an eye. Taking their place is a new team
with the same powers, looking vaguely similar, but possessing none of the
original team's empathy, kindness, and humanity. How could this happen?
And what is the fate of the original team's members?
All these questions are answered in THE AUTHORITY: TRANSFER OF POWER
— the fourth WildStorm Productions trade paperback collecting THE
AUTHORITY #22-29, finishing the book's current run. Featuring stories from
Mark Millar and Tom Peyer, and art from Frank Quitely, Dustin Nguyen, Art
Adams, and Gary Erskine, TRANSFER OF POWER vividly demonstrates how power
corrupts — especially when the people given the power are corrupt to begin
with! Government sponsored and approved, focus-group tested, ethnically
and politically diverse, the new Authority plays by a different rule book.
They are the keepers of the new world order, and pity anyone dumb enough
to stand in their way.
This
“Eye of the Storm” volume also introduces (and shows the final fate of)
the ultimate super-powered being, Seth — the nastiest creation ever to be
dreamed up in an unaccountable black-ops government lab!
This
project is supported with house ads.
THE
AUTHORITY: TRANSFER OF POWER is a 192-page WildStorm Productions trade
paperback and is suggested for mature readers. It arrives in comic-book
stores October 16 with a cover price of $17.95 U.S.
