Title: Murderer

Summary:
Lois Lane must save Superman from a false murder rap in an underground society.

Description:
This issue opens with Superman kneeling before a jury of an underground society, with a teenage girl as the judge. The judge begins to hear the case of the accuser, a little girl names Julie. While she and her brother were getting supplies, the roof of their world (the roads of Metropolis) come crashing down. Superman was fighting the Parasite when he used an empty bus to push him through the road and into the sewers below. Superman inadvertently knocks over one beam with his heat vision, which begins to fall towards Julie. Her brother pushes her out of the way just as the rubble comes crashing down, presumably killing her brother. Parasite disappears. `She pronounces him guilty and wants him killed. The judge will wait to hear Superman's side tomorrow. Some children take Superman away while one person looks on -- Lois Lane in disguise!

Lois Lane is able to sneak up to Superman's cage and asks him what is going on. He confirms Julie's story 100%. He did knock over that beam, but he didn't see Julie or his brother there. And he can't break out because he's been underground for a week now (since the accident) and he's drained. She decides to get to the bottom of this situation and begins her investigation. She begins going through various rooms in the underground society, and discovers that one of them has an electrical current, then she's attacked. She's able to quickly fend off some of the under grounders, then she's approached by a tall dark mysterious man in a suit and mask. The person tells Lois to go back up to the underworld. Lois threatens him with a ripped electrical cord, beaming with electrical energy. The masked man isn't scared, but actually a bit excited. She quickly ties up his legs and takes off.

Awhile later Lois Lane returns to the underground society and even helps out a bit. She asks Julie to take her to the site of the accident. There she searches through the destroyed bus and rubble, when suddenly she's attacked again by the masked man, and his thugs. She's able to take out the thugs and unmasks the mysterious man, who turns out to be The Parasite. Not only that, it turns out one of his thugs is Julie's brother Thomas-- who's ALIVE!! Turns out that Parasite convinced that Thomas that Superman would destroy the hidden society so he faked his own death to get Superman accused of murder, but now realizes he was wrong, and The Parasite only wanted to hide out in the society so he couldn't be could.

Just then The Judge and Superman arrive to hear the confession, and Superman is found innocent. The Parasite is quickly captured after a brief attack on Thomas. Not only that, Superman is able to convince the children to start their adulthood and head up to the real world.

Comments:
An off-beat but fun issue with great art to boot. This is quite an odd story to be getting, especially after last months rip-roaring adventure. The great this about SUPERMAN ADVENTURES is how the stories are self contained and easy for any reader to jump onto, making the series instantly accessibly. The series isn't hounded down by continuity like the mainstream books, which really, really helps out the series. Not only that, Min S. Ku provides some great art. While he's no Aluir Almancio, he's definitely welcome on this title whenever he can swing it. My only problem is how easy it was to figure out it was Parasite. That whole 'electrical cable' thing gave him a way. Overall, an enjoyable tale and nice clear art provide a great read!
