Title: The Fallen

Writer: S.C Bury
Artist: Neil Vokes
Inker: Terry Austin
Colorist: Marie Severin
Letterer: Clem Robins
Cover Art: Mike Manley & Terry Austin

Summary:
Superman is homeless in Smallville.

Description:
After saving the DAILY PLANET from an huge exploding doll, Superman loses his memory. Well, actually, after carrying the doll to space, he's caught in the explosion and blown back to Earth, just outside the Smallville limits. After he recovers he wakes up with no memory of his past life, and his suit is covered and dirt and too discarded to recognize. He's quickly befriended by a couple of homeless men who put some clothes over his costume and they begin to make their way through Smallville. During their trek they are made fun of by local kids and yelled at by the local law as well as citizens. Particularly, Superman comes in confrontation with a truck full of teens and a little girl (who has a doll which resembles the gigantic exploding one) and her mother.

Trouble arises later when Superman and his homeless companions stumble upon an accident. It turns out the truck full of teens hit a car, which belonged to the mother and child. Superman springs to the rescue and saves the little girl and mother, than heads back for the doll, whom he saves from the explosion. That same explosion also burns off his clothes and reveals his costume. The little girl points out he looks like Superman, which triggers Supes' memory, bringing it back. The teens are taken away, and most of the townspeople apologize to the homeless guys. And to complete the happy ending, the two homeless companions get work as well on a farm. All that was missing was the rainbow!

Review:
A good story brought down by art. While Neil Vokes art has improved in this issue, it is still not up to S:TAS standards. It's still too sketchy and characters look nothing like their cartoon counter parts. Although, Volke's Superman/Clark Kent has greatly improved since his last issue. His chin has been reduced and straightened, and looks better. The story is a great interesting premise and plays out nice. If only the art was better...
