Synopsis:
Jimmy shows a new intern (or is he?) around Metropolis and ends up getting them
in nothing but trouble and causes Supes to screw up a couple times. Ho-Hum.
Description:
We see a huge pile of paper on Jimmy Olsen's desk. telling us that he's got
a tons of work, and explaining to do, to the Chief. The chief being good ol'
White. Trying to scare Jimmy into doing work. Perry assigns Jimmy to oversee the
training of a new intern. Jimmy meets his protégée--a young, quiet kid he
spies standing in the news room and looking confused. Jimmy assumes this guy is
the new intern and starts showing him what the interns and copy boys do. As he
explains coffee, copies and carrying, he overhears a hot news tip someone is
giving Clark Kent and drags the kids with him as he chases down the story. Let
the fun begin!
They follow to where-ever Superman is fighting a
new villain called Sinter who has some serious firepower and a flying
spider-like airship. Jimmy gives us and the intern a pretty funny running
commentary of advice on how to handle yourself in a crisis situation, but
doesn't really pay much attention to what the trainee is doing. Big mistake.
Superman takes care of Sinter easily, but loses him when Superman has to take
time out to save the kid and good ol' trouble magnet Jimmy. Jimmy gets the blame
for putting them both in danger. Jimmy now feels pretty bad because Superman
sorta told him off and flew off in anger, trying to track the baddie.
Eventually Jimmy and the Kid fall into problem
after problem after problem after problem while Superman tries to defeat Sinter
and keep them from getting injured. Eventually it all plays off when the new
intern actually helps solve the location of Sinter and saves the day. The catch?
He's not the intern. He's Lois brother visiting for a day. Perry thinks that
Jimmy has been goofing off the whole day is about to get another yelling...
Comments:
Yawn. It was a good story but it's nothing we haven't seen before. It was well
done, though. The story was readable but it seemed to "cute" in
places, and the art was just...bad. Neil Vokes shouldn't be anywhere near this
series, ye he always is! Not a great story, but it ain't unreadable, either. Rating:
