Summary:
Bibbo tries to help out Superman with a case so his friends will finally see that he & Superman are friends.

Description:
This issue opens with Bibbo telling his friends at a local bar how he helped Superman stop a bank robbery. Together they beat up the bad guys and Bibbo is able to say that he's more then Superman's pal, but a partner, like Batman and Robin. But, someone at the bar, who was also at the bank tells everyone that Bibbo got in Superman's way and didn't help at all.. All Bibbo really did was knock the mask off one of the thieves, revealing his scarred face.

As the laughter of the crowd drives Bibbo away, wanting to redeem himself. Meanwhile, Clark Kent is looking into the strange bank robbery. Despite having high tech weapons and a viable plan, the crooks didn't take anything. They accidentally destroyed twenty million dollars in negotiable securities owned by Lex Luthor, which were insured, of course. Luthor, as we see, looks fairly pleased at their destruction, and figures that if it works once, it will work again. Gee, I wonder if he was behind all this.

As Clark Kent tracks down information on Luthor's shady insurance dealings, Bibbo encounters the man with the scar and decides to track him, hoping this will lead to something. Once at their hideout, a farmhouse, the crooks take off in a tank back toward Metropolis. Bibbo grabs the tank and rides with them to the Luthor Metropolitan museum. One they arrive at the museum, they start to destroy everything they see. Bibbo tries to help by grabbing a bomb they've placed, but by doing so triggers an instant detonator. Luckily Superman's there. Superman grabs the bomb and flies it out of the museum, saving everyone inside, but the explosion knocks him out cold and the crooks get away. Bibbo's upset that he screwed up big time.

Upon investigation, firemen reveal that the paintings aren't damaged, but it looks as if they had been disintegrated with no trace remaining. After having his spirits lifted by a volunteer's speech, Bibbo seeks out Clark Kent and reveals the location of the crooks' hideout. Despite warnings from Clark to stay away, Bibbo bikes out there to try and stop them, but is nearly run over by the crooks as they make another run. One of them recognizes Bibbo, and they decide that he shouldn't be around to mess up their plans anymore. As they fire, one of the crooks jumps in the way of the bullets, revealing himself to be Superman, who makes short work of the armored thugs, and allows Bibbo to take out the leader. As Luthor prepares another insurance scam, Superman knocks on his window, holding up one of the thugs to let Luthor know that it is all over. Of course, Luthor is angry and he's had yet another plan ruined.

Bibbo tells his new story, which the bar patrons don't believe, but they're convinced when Superman flies by and thanks Bibbo personally.

Review:
A pretty good story which I could definitely see being animated. Burchett does a fine job and it's a pity this is his last issue. He'll be moving onto Gotham Adventures in a few months, so that book will be in good hands. It's hard to say who'll take over this book, but I can bet we'll get some good artists. Mark Evanier does a great job exploring Bibbo's view son Superman, and he writes Superman great as well! Overall, a nice little story.
