Summary: Livewire
takes over the airwaves in order to give females reporters more exposure. (No
lie!)
Description: Livewire
begins the story as a catatonic patient in a hospital. And when she finally
comes to, the first person she visits is Lois Lane, Livewire then sees how women
are treated and decides to take action against them. She decides to block any
media programming or source which is not coming from a female. Male reporters'
stories are deleted from their computers. Male news anchors are
"snowed" out. And so forth.
Luthor and Superman team up to stop Livewire, but
Luthor goes a bit farther than planned and puts her out of action. And even his
female assistant, Mercy Graves, doesn't appear to take his choice very well.
Livewire is reduced back to her catatonic state. The story ends when she's being
transported to the hospital by a couple of chauvinist paramedics.
Review: The
sad thing is, there's not much else to the story then what's above. It's a
really simple story which should have been more complex and involving. Instead,
it's just Livewire at her most feminist. Bret Blevin's art is okay at best,
nothing great. McCloud presents a fairly simple story which plainly could've
been better.
