Summary: Superman
is hit with a gravity amplifier and Jimmy tries to catch all the action, but dangerous
results!
Description: The
story begins with Perry telling Jimmy Olsen that he needs to get more action
shots, and more in the face or danger. Jimmy, upset that he Perry doesn't
appreciate his work, decides he'll get the best shots of his career today. So
Jimmy heads out to find some action, and finds some involving a couple thieves,
a stolen prototype from S.T.A.R. Labs, and Superman.
He watches as Superman fights to regain the stolen
prototype, but is actually shot by it, allowing the thieves to escape. Superman
tries to fly after them, but he can't because it has amplified his center of
gravity. Thus, making it nearly impossible to fly. So he begins the most
difficult chase of his career as he chases down thieves on foot, and with the
weight of his entire Kryptonian body upon him. Jimmy is able to keep up with
Superman and brings along his camera.
The chase eventually leads to the front of
LEXCORP. It was actually Luthor who asked the thieves to steal that prototype,
but now wants them killed for attracting Superman's attention. Jimmy arrives at
LEXCORP, via shortcut, and ends up with a gun in his face, which he takes a
picture of. Superman is able to save the crooks, the effects of the laser
prototype wears off and he returns it to S.T.A.R. Luthor is never convicted of
course.
And Jimmy still thinks that Perry doesn't
appreciate his work.
Review: A
half and half story. Would Perry actually tell Jimmy to be that reckless and put
himself in danger like that? I doubt it. Good art by Burchett really makes this
story enjoyable, given the mediocre plot by Scott McCloud. The story is good
though, but nothing too special.
