Issue #01 - November 1996

Title: Men of Steel

Writer: Paul Dini
Penciller: Rick Burchett
Inker: Terry Austin
Colorist: Marie Severin
Letterer: Lois Buhalis
Cover Art: Bruce Timm

Summary:
Upset over the defeat of his LEX SKEL 5000 Battle Suit, Led unleashes a robotic Man Of Steel after Superman to destroy his name and the main of steel himself.

Description:
This first issue begins with Superman finishing with Jon Corben and taking him away, much to the dismay of Jon's revealed employer, Lex Luthor. We find out that Lex has a plan up his sleeve to rid himself of this alien as soon as he can, because He interferes with Lex's grand scheme for Metropolis.

As the Daily Planet and the rest of Metropolis deal with this new alien, Lex unleashes his robot to do damage on the town, which it does. Superman trails the robots and battles it. The robot is able to fight back, but Superman is able to outsmart it and returns it to Luthor, who claims to have no knowledge of the robot being built. Superman tells Luthor he better claim that a "disgruntled employee" designed this robot to clear both their name sin the media. Luthor agrees and Superman flies off triumphant.

Review:
Dini writes an amazing issue that fits as a beautiful epilogue to the three part series opener of Superman. Burchett's art remains ever crisp and perfect and fits the series perfectly. I really like how Dini is able to make a three parter with a perfect ending, and actually enhance it with this perfectly put together issue. Kudos to the crew for an amazing first issue.
