Summary:
An inside view into the lives of the “Brine-Monkeys,” including a certain duo trying to take over the tank…

Description:
Pinky has bought some new pets—the “Brine-Monkeys.” Inside the tank, we see two very familiar fellows trying to seize control by pointing out the king’s expansion of his palace is cutting off their fresh water supply. To make his point, “Brain” ties the filter tube up, cutting off the oxygen. The people say they’ll elect Brain ruler if he can fix it. He does, and defeats the current king in the process. But as soon as he’s king, the entire colony is eaten by a fish that the “real” Pinky stupidly put in the tank.

Pages (out of 32): 12 pp.

AYPWIP:
BRAIN MONKEY: Pinky! Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

PINKY MONKEY: I think so, Brain. Just make sure we don’t swallow each other’s bubbles!

Quote of the Story:
BRAIN MONKEY: Amazing, Pinky! You’ve discovered the charcoal filtration device that delivers fresh and aerated water to the giant treasure chest in the heart of town!

PINKY MONKEY: That is amazing, Brain! Especially considering I only understood one out of every three words you just said! Narf!

Review:
A very cool story, and the idea of having the tank with the “Brine-Monkey” versions of the mice owned by our own mice, who exist in the outside world, gives it a neat feel. Also some nice coloring effects by Prismacolor in the underwater scenes. Very enjoyable.

Title: “The Terrific Takeover of Oz”

Writer: Jesse Leon McCann
Penciller: Walter Carzon
Inker: Mike DeCarlo
Letterer: John Costanza
Colorist: Prismacolor

Summary:
The mice attempt to take over Oz using the Flying Monkeys.

Description:
The Wicked Witch has been killed by Dorothy, so Brain dresses Pinky as the Witch and they convince the Flying Monkeys that she was merely shrunken by the water, not killed. Brain dresses as one of the Monkeys. They head off, using the Monkeys’ dandruff to force the various inhabitants of Oz into submission. But when they get to the Wizard’s palace, they’re attacked and make an escape in the Wizard’s balloon, ending up in Kansas…

Pages (out of 32): 12 pp.

AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Pinky, are you pondering what I’m pondering?

PINKY: I think so, Brain! But ruby-studded stockings would be mighty uncomfortable wouldn’t they?

Quote of the Story:
BRAIN: The old bat is gone at last! I can finally pursue the conquest of Oz!

PINKY: Oh, Brain! You’ve been on that kick ever since you were refused charter membership in the Lollipop Guild!

Review:
A pretty enjoyable story, which Oz fans should especially appreciate. Highlighted by the appearance of “Gilbert the Good Witch,” a caricature of actor/comedian Gilbert Gottfried, who is probably most famous as the voice of Iago in Disney’s Aladdin (hence, the “parrot” comment…).
