Summary:
Brain has written a play to overthrow the queen, and
gets Shakespeare to direct it.
Description:
Brain has written a play, but the people would
rather watch a bear fight a dog. So, Brain goes to
William Shakespeare, and he agrees to direct the
play. Since women are banned from the theater, Pinky
must play the female lead. As they perform for the
queen, it becomes a “comedy of errors,” and she
loves it, but when they get to the part where they
suggest her overthrow, she’s not amused and has
them run out of town.

AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Pinky, are you pondering what I’m pondering?
PINKY: I think so,
Brain. But what if the Earl of Essex doesn’t like
burlap pantaloons?
Quote of the Story:
PINKY: But Brain, why
the toga? No one’s worn those in years. Except for
that one really strange man in Lancaster-Shire.
Review:
McLaughlin’s last story for the series is neither
as good as his previous one, nor as bad as the
first. There are lots of throwaway gags and
references for Shakespearean fans (and yes, they
really did use men to play the women’s parts in
Willie’s day). Still, the story as a whole is
fairly similar to the TV episode “The Melancholy
Brain” (which came later), which also parodied Hamlet
in a much more successful fashion.

Summary:
The mice infiltrate a society of bees and attempt to
take it over.
Description:
Brain decides to take over a society of bees and use
them to keep all the world’s leaders indoors.
He’s designed two bee suits, which allow them to
talk like bees. But the bees won’t let them join
the hive until they get some honey. The mice get
honey from a honey company, and return with a
truckload. Then, Brain has Pinky challenge the queen
for leadership of the hive, and he wins.
Unfortunately, thanks to Pinky’s broken
communicator, he tells them to role around in paint,
getting them stuck and ruining the plan
The Goodfeathers from Animaniacs
have a cameo.

AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Pinky, are you
pondering what I’m pondering?
PINKY: I think so,
Brain, but should we use dishwashing liquid or
cooking oil?
Quote of the Story:
PINKY: [In bee talk,
through his malfunctioning communicator.]: My pants
are filled with syrup and there’s a frying pan up
my nose!
Review:
A pretty bizarre concept, and the story really
isn’t too much better than it sounds. The best
lines are Pinky’s idiotic ramblings through his
broken communicator. While certainly not bad, it’s
just not terribly good.
