Brain enters a surfing contest and becomes a
‘60’s teen heartthrob.
Description:
Brain decides to carve his face on the moon so
people will worship him, and decides that the best
thing for the task is the fiberglass surfboard being
offered as a prize in the “Endless Bummer”
surfing contest. So he enters the contest, but when
he’s mocked, he proves his “coolness,” and
soon becomes a heartthrob. He wins the surfing
contest as Pinky controls him by remote, but he’s
so injured by the end, Pinky must use the board to
reflect the sun’s rays onto the moon—but he
accidentally carves Frankie Avalon’s image.

AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Pinky, are you
pondering what I’m pondering?
PINKY: I think so,
Brain, but wouldn’t an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie,
yellow polka-dot one-piece be better suited for my
figure?
Quote of the Story:
BRAIN: [On the
surfboard, being controlled by Pinky.]: Pinky, watch
out for that buoy!
PINKY: [Looking at a
little boy skipping into the ocean.]: Don’t worry
Brain, I see him!
Review:
Fairly similar to the TV episode of the same name,
right down to the Annette Funicello caricature, but
this one is missing the bouncy tune and Julie
Brown’s voicing, which were the two best parts of
the TV ep. Some lettering errors and the
ridiculousness of Brain’s plan mar the story
further. Still, it’s not bad by any means, and
fans of ‘60’s pop culture should enjoy it. Be
sure to check out the captions on the various
magazines.

Summary:
The mice
head out to find the world’s smallest whale and
meet Snowball along the way…
Description:
Brain needs one ingredient for his
formula—whale’s plaque. He decides to capture
Moby Dinky, the world’s smallest whale, then build
a model of him and infiltrate the whales’ society,
stealing their plaque. They go to sea in a model
ship and encounter Snowball, who’s already built a
sub/replica of the whale. After he wrecks their
ship, they lure him up to deck and shove him off,
stealing his sub. Brain dumps the remainder of
Pinky’s mouthwash-tasting broth overboard, and it
cleans all he whales’ teeth.

BRAIN: Pinky, are you
pondering what I’m pondering?
PINKY: [Looking at a
piece of cheese.]: I think so, Brain, but won’t it
go straight to my hips?!
Quote
of the Story:
I’ll chase him ‘round Cape
Hope, and ‘round the Horn, and ‘round the Norway
Maelstrom, and ‘round Perdition’s Flames before
I give up!
PINKY: Just don’t
forget to turn left at Albuquerque, Brain! Poit!
Review:
A pretty amusing story. Lots of great lines and
Carzon’s usual terrific artwork. Besides, almost
any story with Snowball is worthwhile…
