Batman: Gotham Adventures is the third comic series based on the animated Batman, following The Batman Adventures, Batman & Robin Adventures, and the mini-series Batman Adventures: The Lost Years. Gotham Adventures is based on the revised animated style used on The New Batman/Superman Adventures cartoon. Curiously, two specials were released using this new animated style before Gotham Adventures debuted. These were The Batgirl Adventures #1 and Batman & Superman Adventures: World's Finest. The first Gotham Adventures creative team were writer Ty Templeton, penciller Rick Burchett, and inker Terry Beatty, who were responsible for the first 12 issues. They were followed by the current team of writer (and former editor) Scott Peterson, penciller Tim Levins, and inker Terry Beatty. The first 6 issues of Gotham Adventures have been collected in a trade paperback.
