Summary:
Hello Nurse must stop Nurse Doom's latest plan to
destroy the world. But can H.N. really save the planet when she can't even keep
her three new recruits in line?
Description:
Nurse Doom, after her latest humiliating defeat
at the hands of Hello Nurse, is ready to give up. But with the encouragement of
Mr. Glove (?!?), she decides to take over H.U.B.B.A. HQ. Meanwhile, H.N. is
training three new protégés, the "Candy Stripers"—Cheerio Nurse, Foxy
Nurse, and Aloha Nurse—who prove to be highly incompetent. Doom heads to WB,
where she discovers the underground entrance to H.U.B.B.A. She takes over the
place. H.N. tells the Candy Stripers the story of her and her twin sister—how
they were discovered by H.U.B.B.A., and how Doom became their mortal enemy due
to her insane "gene splicing" activities (which consist of taping two
animals together). Konichi-wa Nurse appears just in time, and inspires the
Candy Stripers. They find Doom, who is planning to use puppies
"spliced" to bombs to destroy the world. Although Doom gets away,
Foxy Nurse deactivates the bombs, thanks to Konichi-wa's guidance. The Candy
Stripers become full-fledged members.
Includes cameos by Yakko & Wakko, and Dr.
Scratchansniff.
Pages (out of 32): 22 pp.
Quote of the Story:
NURSE DOOM: [Singing.]:
Who can blow the world up with a smile?!
Who can take a sunny day, and blast it into a smoking pile?
PI-R-SQUARED: [Whispering]: This is what I hate the most
about megalomaniacs! They just think they're all that.
Review:
The fourth, and final (at least for now) installment
in Carolan & Moore's wonderful series is everything one would hope, and
more. All our favorites from the series return (Nurse Hapless, Nurse Doom,
Konichi-wa Nurse, and the previously unnamed Pi-R-Squared), and Mr. Glove and
the Candy Stripers make impressive debuts. Highlights include the flashback and
Konichi-wa Nurse's scenes. The bit where Doom is "disguised" as H.N.
and encounters Scratchy is the typical F!-esque silliness Carolan & Moore
have come to be known for. All the stuff we love about the
"H.U.B.B.A." series is included here, and Batic brings the thing to
life with some of his best work on the A! series to date—great use of shadows,
and H.N. is as captivating as ever. Highly recommended.
