Summary:
Some duck babies bug Slappy as she fights Walter
for a parking spot.
Description:
Walter heads out to a nature reserve to get
away from Slappy, little knowing that Slappy is at the same reserve, taking
Skippy on a trip. Walter and Slappy compete for a parking spot in typical
cartoon fashion. Things are complicated further by three adorable baby birds
who mistake Slappy for their mother. Slappy finally finds a way to solve both her
problems by trapping Walter in her van with the ducks…
Pages (out of 32): 8 pp.
Quote of the Story:
SLAPPY: [Trying to get rid of the babies.]: Shoo! Get away
from here! Go hassle Fat Albert! He likes strays!
Review:
An above-average tale from Edkin. Although the baby
bird plot is quite similar to the one in the TV cartoon "My Mother the
Squirrel," here it's much funnier (and less annoying). An intriguing twist
on things, with the pranks intended for Walter backfiring on Slappy, due to the
birds' incessantly bursting in at the pivotal moment and throwing everything
off. Fresh, original, and funny. Batic's artwork isn't up to his usual
standard.

Writer: Joe Edkin
Penciller: Walter Carzon
Inker: Horacio Ottolini
Letterer: John Costanza
Colorist: Bob LeRose
Summary:
Brain becomes a mother figure for the world so
everyone will obey him.
Description:
Brain can't come up with a world domination
plot, until Pinky's comment about listening to his mother strikes him. He
becomes the "ultimate mother," using a voice modulator to make anyone
who listens to him susceptible to his commands. The world embraces him, until a
boy calling his phone line hears him yelling at Pinky. The moms of the world,
thinking "Mother" was yelling at the boy, suddenly turn on him.
Pages (out of 32): 8 pp.
AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Pinky?
PINKY: I think so, Brain. But does "Chunk o' Cheesy's"
deliver packing material?
Quote of the Story:
[Brain has just explained his plan.]
PINKY: Brilliant, Brain! Ooops! Nope--wait! You don't look
anything like my mother. Why would I listen to you?
BRAIN: [Whacking Pinky with a test tube.]: Because I shall
be wearing an elaborate disguise!
PINKY: Oh, right! My mother did that after I was born, too!
Narf!
Review:
Another highly enjoyable story from Edkin. This is
an example of Brain's crossdressing being funny. The concept is absolutely hilarious
in itself, and the writing and art are carried out to near-perfection by Edkin
and Carzon. Despite one or two weak spots, the story as a whole is great stuff.
Also includes the first really funny trashing of Jerry Springer in A! comic
book canon.

Title: "If the Ark's A'Rockin'…"
Writer: Frank Strom
Penciller: Leo Batic
Inker: Jim Amash
Letterer: Phil Felix
Colorist: Bob LeRose
Summary:
Noah tries to get the Warners on his ark.
Description:
All the animals are on-board Noah's ark—except
for three odd animals that aren't on the list (and a unicorn). He makes several
unsuccessful attempts at capturing them, and when the flood really starts, they
decide to go along with him after all.
Pages (out of 32): 6 pp.
Quote of the Story:
[Noah reveals that for each animal, he can only take one of
each gender.]
YAKKO: Male!
DOT: Female!
WAKKO: Other!
YAKKO: "Other"?
WAKKO: Ya wanna argue, or you wanna get on the boat?
Review:
An enjoyable story, despite some flaws. For one,
Noah in parts is portrayed as being too evil ("Your worst
nightmare"?!). But still, entertaining enough. A pretty good debut for
Strom.
