Summary:
Dot holds a slumber party.

Description:
Dot, sick of doing "boy stuff," decides to get in touch with her feminine side. After shoving her brothers off to a Planet of the Apes movie marathon, she holds a sleepover in the tower. But the girls are weirded out by her style, and Dot becomes impatient with their giggly, immature attitudes. So she rids herself of them and joins her brothers at the bijou.

Pages (out of 32): 6 pp.

Quote of the Story:
RALPH: [Bursting in on the girls.]: Dahhh, hey youse guys! Keep it down, willya? They're filming "Contact II-Electric Boogaloo" next door!

Review:
Short, sweet, to the point, but still an excellent story. Not only the usual standard of humor that we've come to expect from Carolan & Moore, but also a very nice analysis of Dot, coming to the conclusion that she's certainly feminine, but enough "Warner" to still be able to have fun with anvils and mallets and the like. The ending scene, with her enjoying the same film as her brothers, but for more feminine reasons, is perfect evidence of this. Excellent artwork by Batic, too. Supoib.

Title: "Lifestyles of the Old and Cranky"

Writer: Michael Dare
Penciller:
Leonardo Batic.
Inker:
Scott McRae
Letterer:
John Costanza
Colorist:
Prismacolor

Summary:
Slappy frightens away tourists trying to invade her privacy.

Description:
With Skippy at "Raging Walnuts," Slappy has the house to herself for a day—until some nosy tourists bust in. Slappy throws them out, and tries to sell them some explosion-loaded souvenirs on the way. She hypnotizes the next group that comes along, and blows the next one up. By the time Skippy arrives home, Slappy has hooked up a system that'll blow the tour buses to Mars at the push of a button.

Pages (out of 32): 10 pp.

Quote of the Story:
SLAPPY: [Hypnotizing the tourists with a machine that makes a "Bzzzzrrrrp" sound effect.]: All right, everybody look here. You are not real people, you are just characters in a comic book.

TOURIST 1: Oh my God, I'm two-dimensional!

TOURIST 2: How did I get in here?

TOURIST 3: I feel like somebody's reading me!

TOURIST 4: How do you pronounce "Bzzzzzzrrrrrp"?

Review:
Dare wrote several scripts for the A! TV show, which were not produced due to cutbacks. His writing can be quite funny at times, but most of the time it's nothing terribly great. His other unproduced A! scripts can be found at: http://home.earthlink.net/~dare2b/animania.htm?19,29. This story is fairly unremarkable—not bad, really, but not all that great either.

Inker:

Letterer:
John Costanza
Colorist:
Prismacolor

Summary:
Minerva is hired by the "Fluffy Nummy Yum-Yums Company."

Description:
The heads of the Fluffy Nummy Yum-Yums Company are looking for something to grab people's attention at this year's Widget Expo. They spot Minerva on the street and hook her for the job immediately. When she gets there, it's a humiliating experience, until she notes the hunk at the next booth. She's told not to fraternize with the competition, so she throws out free stuff, causing utter chaos, and ultimately leading to the heads of the company being run out of the expo while she hugs the guy.

Pages (out of 32): 8 pp.

Quote of the Story:
[The customers realize that the project doesn't live up to Minerva's pitch.]

CUSTOMER 1: Where's the Vibra-Slap?

CUSTOMER 2: This doesn't do anything for waxy yellow buildup!

CUSTOMER 3: Hey I'm still blind!

Review:
Fairly below-average for a Minerva story (very few good wild takes or the like, and the story as a whole is a rather bad vehicle for the Mink). But Carolan & Moore's usual brand of humor helps to juice it up and makes it a lot more enjoyable than it really deserves to be.
