Summary:
A parody of The Sid & Marty Krofft Show.

Description:
The final episode of ElectraWalter & DynaSquirrel, originally broadcast April 22, 1972. Slappy & Walter, reporters for "The Globule" newspaper, are called by Mitch, their hip surfer manservant, to come to the Electra-Cave, where they learn that Dr. Evil is up to something evil. He plans to make everyone in the world as evil as he using a Viewmaster™. But DynaSquirrel is too busy abusing ElectraWalter to fight Dr. Evil and his assistant Ms. Taffy. They turn Walter evil, and Slappy, sick of the whole campy show, blows the whole set sky-high, revealing Dr. Evil as a puppet at the same time.

Pages (out of 32): 12 pp.

Quote of the Story:
DYNASQUIRREL: Just how many box tops did you have to save to make this show anyway?

Review:
Another true classic, this story somewhat symbolizes the end of the Golden Age of the A! comics. There would still be lots of great stories following this, but from issues 19 to 30, almost every issue had at least one absolute classic. The series would never reach that level again. But this story, an expansion on Carolan & Moore's gag in issue # 25, is one of the best of the series, and arguably the best Slappy comic. Tons of hilarious gags and jabs at the campiness/cheapness of certain kiddie shows. The "jet" bit is a highlight.

Title: "The Warnerbugs"

Writers: Jennifer Moore & Sean Carolan
Penciller:
Leo Batic
Inker:
Jim Amash
Letterer:
Teresa Davidson
Colorist:
Prismacolor

Summary:
A parody of The Bugaloos.

Description:
The Warners, for some reason, are mod insects, with a zany and lovable gastropod named Sluggy. Wanda Weird wants to be a cartoon star and gets the Warners to help her, but after they insult her "comedy" stylings, she kidnaps Sluggy. When the Warners come to save him, she tries to transport their comedy to her, but she instead receives her assistant, Groovy Gerbil's.

Pages (out of 32): 10 pp.

Quote of the Story:
[The Warners try to tell Wanda what they thought of her comedy act.]

DOT: Oh! Well! Ummm…what are the words I'm looking for…?

WAKKO: [Who has been crying through her entire, horrible act.] YOU STINK ON ICE, SCARY LADY! [Sniffle]

DOT: That sums it up quite nicely.

YAKKO: Abrupt, yet sincere.

Review:
This story feeds mainly off its own bizarreness. Another spoof of a campy '70's kiddie show, but in this one, rather than have the main characters dump on the show left and right (like "ElectraWalter and DynaSquirrel"), the Warners just go with the flow, accepting whatever happens as perfectly natural, which makes this story all the weirder, and all the funnier.
