Cover Price:
$1.75 U.S./ $2.50 Canada Summary: The Warners drive Scratchy crazy singing a science
song that makes no sense.
Description: Scratchansniff tries to teach the kids science,
but they just play. They then proceed to sing a song, to the tune of
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," just mixing a bunch of science
words together. The Doctor objects that their song makes no sense, leading to
some "Educational Interludes," until they finally get Scratchy
singing it too. They then flee before they get sued.
Pages (out of 32): 8 pp.
Quote of the Story:
DOT: [Explaining the inaccuracies in their song]: But we
couldn't make "glycolysis" rhyme in our song. Too many syllables.
WAKKO: So we left it out in the name of art.
Review: As someone who was never a big science fan anyway, I
enjoyed this story immensely. And even though the song is largely just a bunch
of scientific jargon thrown together, Kurtin definitely seems to have some
skills working with lyrics (most of the rhymes are pretty good, and the lines
fit the tune, most of the time). Don't'cha love edutainment?

Title: "Brain's Spock"
Captains: Dana Kurtin & Jesse Leon McCann
Transport Room: Walter Carzon (Penciller) & Scott McRae
(Inker)
Communications Officer: John Costanza
Funky Blue Alien Chick: Prismacolor
Summary: A guest appearance by the mice in the A! books.
Brain impersonates Spock to get some cloning material.
Description: As Pinky watches Star Trek reruns on the
William Shatner Channel, Brain plots how to get his hands on cloning
technology. Running on Pinky's observation that scientists love Mr. Spock,
Brain impersonates the Vulcan and the two sneak into the institution in a
scientist's toupee. Once inside, Brain flubs and is challenged to a fight with
one of the scientists, while Pinky puts the toupee in a "microwave"
to keep it warm for the scientist. Pinky finds the disk with the cloning
technology, but it turns out the microwave was the cloning chamber. The toupees
overrun the lab, and they lose the disk.
Pages (out of 32): 10 pp.
AYPWIP:
BRAIN: [Excited, as Pinky has just given him an idea]: Are
you pondering what I'm pondering?
PINKY: I think so, Brain! [Sprays his breath.]
BRAIN: Er…then again, let's not let our enthusiasm overwhelm
us!
Quote of the Story:
BRAIN: [After hearing that scientists have cloned sheep to
play poker]: I grit my teeth to think how my own advancements in the field have
gone unsung.
PINKY: Gee, Brain, you could sing about it yourself and let
everyone else grit their teeth! Narf!
Review: A teamup of the main writer of the P&tB comics
and one of the main A! comic writers, with mixed results. Both McCann &
Kurtin are capable of much better than this, and both have done much worse. But
in the end, it's a pretty amusing story that entertains the reader more often
than not. Lots of refs for Star Trek fans to sink their teeth into as well.

Title: Minerva Mink in "Natural Chemistry"
Writer: Dana Kurtin
Penciller: Leonardo Batic
Inker: Scott McRae
Letterer: Lorina Mapa
Colorist: Prismacolor
Summary: Newt tries to capture the Mink via a scent that
will make her head-over-heels for him.
Description: The scent of Minerva's pheromone-based suntan
lotion is driving all the males crazy, including Newt. In order to capture her
he plans to design his own scent, and after several failures, finds one that
causes her to pass up even a hunky hunting dog—money.
Pages (out of 32): 6 pp.
Quote of the Story:
NEWT: Sniff your destiny! This potion is full of nitrates.
Do you know anything about nitrates, Mink?
MINERVA: They're cheaper than day rates?
Review: A very good story—several nice wild takes, as well
as a bunch of nice gags, as Newt's efforts backfire on him. Batic does his
usual good job in his first work with everyone's favorite Mustelid (and Minerva
in a bikini—yow!). Minerva fans should enjoy it.
