the issue: Agents Moudly and Scowly investigate a UFO crash, but Mouldy wanders
off from Scowly and discovers the UFO—it's the WB water tower. The Warners come

lesson…
The second half is presented at the end of the issue: Scowly
discovers Mouldy, but won't believe his tale. Meanwhile, we see dark forces at
work, making sure Mouldy doesn't find the truth—it's the writer, in Leicester,
England. But in Burbank, the editors reveal that they're really in control—they
only let the writer think he's pulling the strings.
Pages (out of 32): 4 pp. (wraparound; 2 pp. at the beginning
of the issue and 2 pp. at the end of the issue)
Quote of the Story:
MOULDY: [Narrating.]: As we picked our way cautiously
through the forest, the mist began to thicken. While this did make the beams
from our flashlights look really cool, it did little to help our search…
Review:
This entire issue is a wonderful, wonderful parody
of The X Files, and this wraparound is the glue of the issue. It does a perfect
job of holding the whole thing together, and is quite possibly the best part of
the issue. The Description above cannot possibly do it justice—you have to read
it yourself. And the artwork (by "X Files" comics artist Adlard, and
old "Animaniacs" comic favorite Sternecky) is equally astounding—the
two styles are so contradictory, yet they mix perfectly. Certainly one of the
best issues of the series.

Title: "Sheep!"
Writer: Dave King
Penciller: Omar Aranda
Inker: Scott McRae
Letterer: Teresa Davidson
Colorist: Jo Meugniot
Summary: The Warners investigate rubber sheep.
Description: Yakko, Wakko, & Dot fill in for the FBI
agents, who are missing after their "accident" with the Warners (see
the "The Y Files"). They meet up with a guy named "Sore
Throat" and a town sheriff, both of whom have the same distinctive cough,
and end up discovering a rubber plant that mixes rubber into sheep's DNA. We
eventually find that "Sore Throat" and the sheriff are aliens
planning to use the rubber sheep to bring mankind to submission, and pave the
way for their own society to settle here.
Cameo by Pinky & the Brain passing by in a bus
(establishing some nice continuity—according to the dates and times given here,
and in the next story, the mice would indeed have been in the bus at the time
they're shown here).
Pages (out of 32): 10 pp.
Quote of the Story:
SKINNY: What's going on? You're not Mouldy and Scowly!
YAKKO: Nope! We're clean and smiling, but that's not
important right now!
Review: Very enjoyable, and dead-on, spoof of the TV show
and comic books. While Aranda's work on the Warners could still use some
improvement, the humans and scenery look perfect, and he does a nice job capturing
a spooky feel using shadows, etc. Great stuff. Also, look for lots of bizarre
jokes hidden in the background. And on a side note, the TV show *DID* parody Friends,
in its 5th
season, when the writers were running low on ideas. Don't'cha love irony?

Title: "Little Green Mice"
Writer: Dave King
Penciller: Walter Carzon
Inker: Scott McRae
Letterer: John Costanza
Colorist: Demetrius Bassoukos
Summary: Brain decides that he and Pinky are actually aliens
and they head off for a rendezvous with a mother ship.
Description: There have been a series of cheese thefts
lately, and UFO's are widely expected. Brain comes to the conclusion that he is
the prophesied leader of an alien civilization, and they're trying to attract
his attention. They disguise themselves as the missing FBI agents Mouldy &
Scowly and head to Wyoming, and eventually Wisconsin. In a cheese factory in
Wisconsin, they finally find what appears to be the mother ship. However, it's
really just a government chopper "gathering data."
Pages (out of 32): 10 pp.
AYPWIP:
BRAIN: Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Pinky?
PINKY: I think so, Brain, but wouldn't mustard make it
sting?
Quote of the Story:
BRAIN: Consider this, Pinky… It's a known fact that many
civilizations seek out their prophesied leaders! The Tibetans looking for their
Dalai Lama, or the Whovians of Gallifrey searching for their Lord Tempus!
PINKY: Or…the Warner Bros. executives searching for an actor
who'll play Batman for more than one movie?
Review: Another great story. Although the idea of the mice
actually being aliens is ludicrous, the story produces a very spooky effect,
and does a terrific job of creating a *VERY* tangled, confusing web similar to
the ones on the TV show being parodied. I still haven't quite figured it out.
Again, it's impossible to understand how great this story is by the summary.
The entire issue is highly recommended.
