Comics Previews for Dec 16: Sam and Max, Marvel’s "Mythos," Gun Fu

The following comics previews are available on-line:

– Telltale Games, makers of the Bone video game, are hosting new Sam and Max comics by Steve Purcell on the web to promote their new video game.

– BrokenFrontier.com has a five-page preview of Hawaiian Dick: The Last Resort #3 by B. Clay Moore and Steven Griffin, published by Image Comics. The series focuses on a private investigator in 1950’s Hawaii.

– Buzzscope.com has updated their comics preview page to include several new releases this week, including Local #2 by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly from Oni Press.

– Mile High Comics has previews for Marvel and DC comic books coming out next week, including Justice #3 (DC) by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Doug Braithwaite; and Runaways #11 (Marvel) by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.

– Newsarama.com has a 6-page preview of Twin Blades: The Killing Words #1, a swords and sorcery comic book with twin sister warriors cutting a swath through barbarian hordes. The comic, by Adrian Todd and Ryan Odagawa, will be published by Alias Comics in January.

– Newsarama.com also has an 11-page preview of Mythos #1, a new Marvel Comic coming in January that will recapture the earliest days of Marvel superheroes (the X-Men, in this issue). The comic is written by Paul Jenkins, features fully painted artwork by Paolo Rivera, and will be released in January.

– Marvel has previewed their Atlas Era Tales to Astonish Vol. 1 “Masterworks” edition hardcover. The reprint volume will hit stands in January.

– More January Marvel previews are available at Newsarama.com, including Sable and Fortune #1, Ultimate Extinction #1, and Marvel Zombies #2.

– Newsarama.com has an 8-page preview of Robotika #2 by Alex Sheikman, a “steampunk wasabi western” about a cybernetic samurai battling his way through a strange future. The book will ship in February.

– An article about Howard Shum and Darryl Young’s Gun Fu: Showgirls Are Forever contains several pages of preview art. The comic’s star is hip-hop WWII-era Hong Kong detective Cheng Bo Sen, this time out to defeat four French showgirl Nazi sympathizers. The book is published by Image and will be out in March.

– Newsarama.com previews Hector Plasm: De Mortis, a one-shot comic involving the myths and legends of ghosts and the title character’s straddling between the living and the dead. The book is by Benito Cereno and Nate Bellegarde and will be out in March from Image Comics.
