Long long ago, there was a serious effort by the broadcast networks to produce animated specials for Halloween. The practice faded away by the late 90’s, but thanks to the efforts of CBS, it’s coming back. And, apparently, so is Michael Jackson.
That’s correct — CBS will be airing a one-hour Halloween special this fall entitled “Michael Jackson’s Halloween.” The people shown above are Vincent and Victoria, two young people who meet “accidentally” on Halloween night and wind up wandering down 777 Jackson Street, where they find a mysterious building called This Place Hotel. Quoting the press release: “Once inside, Vincent and Victoria are sent on an unexpected, magical adventure of personal discovery, culminating in a spectacular dance finale featuring an animated Michael Jackson.” Hoo! Shamon! Rated PG for mild crotch-grabbing.
Michael Jackson’s Halloween will star the voices of actors Christine Baranski, Kiersey Clemons, Alan Cumming, George Eads, Brad Garrett, Lucy Liu, Jim Parsons (he had to be in here somewhere) and Lucas Till. It’ll be produced by Daniel Chuba and directed by Mark A.Z. Dippé. Are Jackson’s smooth moves enough to bring original Halloween specials back from the grave?
