Animation historian Jerry Beck will be hosting a preview screening of six new short films at the Nicktoons Studios in Burbank, CA, on January 10, 2007. The screenings will be from Random Cartoons, a new series for Nickelodeon from Studio Frederator, and will include Beck’s own “Hornswiggle.” The event is open to members of ASIFA-Hollywood.
South Carolina’s The State newspaper is reporting that filmmaker/animator Helen Hill was shot and killed in New Orleans, Louisiana, early in the morning of January 4, 2007. She was 36 years old. Hill graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 1995 and won a $35,000 fellowship for her short film “The Florestine Collection.” […]
