An article at Jim Hill Media covers a recent signing event for E-ville Press, a self-publishing comic book company composed of Pixar animators. The company has published 5 comics so far, titled Afterworks, Colossus, Rose and Isabel, Little India, and Dumping Grounds.

Ralph Bakshi Talks "Fire and Ice"

Animator Ralph Bakshi has been interviewed by Newsarama.com about the DVD re-issue of Fire and Ice, his 1983 animated swords and sorcery film that teamed him with painter Frank Frazetta and writers Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway. Toon Zone reviewed the DVD in August.

English Dub of "My Neighbor Totoro" to Debut October 23

A press release notes that the new English dub of Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro will premiere on October 23, 2005, as the closing film of the 2005 Hollywood Film Festival. The screening is by invitation only.

Discotek Media to Bring "Animal Treasure Island," Lupin Titles to US

According to Home Media Retailing magazine, Discotek Media is entering the North American anime distribution marketplace with Animal Treasure Island from Toei. The 1971 film features animation and consulting by Hayao Miyazaki. Other titles coming soon from Discotek include Puss n’ Boots (1969), Taro the Dragon Boy (1979), and several Lupin III films.

"Cinderella" DVD Moves 3.2 Million Units in 1 Week

Home Media Retailing magazine is reporting that Disney’s Cinderella Platinum Series DVD has sold 3.2 million units in its first week of sales. Industry insiders predict that Cinderella will be one of the top 10 top-selling DVDs of the year. (via Internet Movie Database Daily Briefing)

AK Comics Brings Arab Superheroes to Comics, TV

An article in Business Today Egypt profiles AK Comics. Headquartered in Egypt, AK publishes comic books featuring several Arab superheroes. They are also entering into several licensing agreements and are working on an animated TV series which they hope to sell to a satellite network early next year.
