"Robot Chicken Season One" Who Poop Last!?

by on April 13, 2006
What happens when the chicken crosses the road? He’s run over, turned into a cyborg by the local mad scientist and forced to channel flip through television for the rest of his life. But it’s not our TV he’s watching. We don’t have shows such as “The Real World: Metropolis,” “Who Poop Last?” and episodes […]

"Samurai 7" Light on Action, Heavy on Plot

by on April 12, 2006
At first, the idea of fusing sci-fi with ancient samurai tales doesn’t look all that promising. After all, there are a million ways you could screw something like that up. Then I watched the first volume of Samurai 7, where Kanbe goes out without a protective suit and, with a normal, everyday sword, slices a […]

"Samurai 7 Vol. 5" – Even With The Clip Show It’s Still Awesome.

by on April 12, 2006
Yeah, you heard me right, a clip show. This volume of Samurai 7, coming hot off the blistering action from the 4th volume (which likely burned out the animation staff for a week,) leads off with a clip show. However, even that episode is pretty darn good. In general, this volume backs off the action, […]

At long last, She-Ra, Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain and Voltron are coming out to DVD in a few months. But there are still some toons that have been gathering dust in the vaults and deserve to be released. The question is: Which ones? Here’s my personal opinion. 25. The Brady Kids: Three years after […]

"Dragonball Z" Huzzah! The Main Feature Finally Starts!

by on April 10, 2006
It’s been a long struggle through crappy Toei writers killing any and all potential good filler stories, but finally, we’re at the main fight: Earth’s Special Forces (a.k.a. the Z-Fighters) vs. the Saiyans Vegeta and Nappa. Oh how I’ve waited for this. Vegeta and Nappa have arrived on Earth, and soon after exiting their space […]

The Danger Service Agency will take on any task, for a price. Throughout their odd jobs, they seem to have made a certain enemy, one voted in by the public of Japan. To find out what a haircutting hellion, a stone cold slaughterer, and a pop-idol have against the DSA, read on. Plus, mummies, a […]

"Devil Hunter Yohko: The Complete Collection Vol. 2" Ah, the logic of Twin Cousins

by on April 6, 2006
Yohko Mano is Japan’s equivalent of Buffy The Vampire Slayer; a young girl begrudgingly given the task of defending the earth (more specifically, their home town… you never really saw Buffy go too far from Sunnydale) from demons and derelicts. Yohko’s a real girl, one who swears, has hormones, and would rather track down the […]
