Synopsis: Linda feels she is psychic after she predicts a pair of predictable events, Bob is skeptical and the kids are on the fence until Uncle Teddy takes them to the horse races to see if Linda’s predicted horse wins the race.
Details: Linda believes she has psychic abilities after she predicts Bob has put an orange under a bowl and then goes on to “predict” that a statue of “Dizzy Dog” fell into the water off a pier. Bob remains skeptical and asks her to predict what he’s going to do next and she predicts he will fall down a flight of stairs. Bob scoffs at the prediction and spends the remainder of the episode gingerly walking down the stairs of the restaurant into the basement when he needs restaurant supplies.
Meanwhile, the police have latched onto Linda’s psychic “abilities” and have asked for her help in finding the Little Boy Bandit but Linda is beginning to waver in her confidence of her abilities after realizing that none of her predictions came true for a slew of people who show up at the restaurant to complain.
Louise decides the best way to determine whether or not her mother is psychic is to make money off it by asking her to predict a horse race by pretending to select a favorite name. Uncle Teddy is intrigued by the concept of a winning horse selected by a psychic and volunteers himself to take the kids to the horse racing track so they can dump Tina’s life savings on the horse in question.
While at the track, Tina would like to get a photograph of the horse and strikes up a conversation with the jockey who – as it turns out – is actually the Little Boy Bandit, thus proving – in an extremely roundabout way – that Linda was psychic.
The Poop and Skinny: According to Gene, everybody sounds like Sandy Duncan to Linda.
Tina has $82.40 in her savings account.
The name of the horse the kids bet on is Gelding the Lily.
