It's time for more cross-media video game fun! In The Astronaut, Blob visits the Graydian Employment Office to choose space as his career path. He immediately realizes his mistake as he's attacked by mechanical arms and transported to a space station. He meets danger as he's sent outside in a space suit with solar panels but ends up being cut off from his oxygen supply. The promo/short is well animated, very polished and it has some really cute elements to it, but it just ends once the oxygen supply hurdle is resolved. It could have used a punchline of any sort to make the ending snappier. Watch it for yourself and let us know what you think.
Haven't heard of de Blob yet? What? Well, in the game the I.N.K.T. corporation attempts to steal all of the color from Chroma City. Blob, an amorphous blob of paint, is the only one with the power to stop them.
The game was developed Blue Tongue, a subsidiary of THQ and released to the Wii in 2008 to favorable reviews. In early 2010, THQ partnered with SyFy to collaborate on cross-media properties including de Blob. de Blob 2 will hit shelves on February 22, 2011 on the Xbox 360 in 3D, PS3 in 3D, Wii and DSi.
