Cool Stuff: A Short Love Story

Today we have a really gorgeous short called, A Short Love Story. A young girl doodles on a page by her desk. After a short glance towards the boy across from her, she begins to daydream of a life together. Birds flutter off of the drawing on her desk to start an amazing visual sequence. 

The strengths of this short lie in Carlos Lascano's excellent handle on iconic imagery, special effects and choice of shots. It's all quite beautiful. Love Story falls short in the choice of soundtrack, which aligns with the theme of the short, but is at odds with the somewhat grittier, textured look of the short. It soars a little too much. Even so, the short is definitely worth a look. Lascano's site has a small, but interesting, behind-the-scenes look at the short.
