Batman: Teacher of Judaic Moral Values

by on October 26, 2006

An article in The Jewish Week spotlights Rabbi Cary Friedman, author of Wisdom from the Batcave: How to Live a Super, Heroic Life, in which he discusses how Batman “instills in his audience some of Judaism’s most important moral values.” The book arose from his experiences in Jewish studies classes at Duke University and the positive reactions from his students when he used Batman to illustrate points from the Torah or the Talmud. Among the examples included in the article is the meeting between the animated Batman and the Gray Ghost, used to teach the value of inspiring others.

Wisdom from the Batcave is scheduled for release on October 28, 2006.
