Advance Review: "Gravion Zwei" Forces Way Too Much Down Our Throats

This is a review of an advance screener of Gravion Zwei that contained the first two episodes. The full Vol. 1 release will contain four episodes and extras. I’ve always been interested in Gravion, though never enough to actually pick it up. It’s got stuff that I like: giant robots, smooth animation, and fanservice. Lots […]

"All Grown Up" But I Ain't "Loving It"

Way back when Nickelodeon was actually watchable, I used to love Rugrats. The adventures of Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, and Susie were all great fun. When Nick started its descent into what its current state, the Rugrats reruns were often the only thing I would watch. Heck, if Nick were to release a boxset […]

Geneon Announces Two New Titles

ICv2 reports that Geneon Entertainment will release two new Japanese animation titles in the United States. Girl’s Bravo is a story about a young boy who lands on a planet full of women. The only problem is, he’s utterly afraid of the opposite sex. Melody of Oblivion is a more dramatic story which takes place […]

"Duel Masters" Not Your Typical Toy Commercial

Who’s the kid with the spiky hair!? SHOBU! Flaming hand up in the air! SHOBU! Creatures battlin’ in the zone! SHOBU! Gonna take the trophy home! SHOBU! Duel Masters! Duel Masters! DUEL MASTERS! The battle’s on! Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. When you have a catchy theme and an advertising campaign that hits you over […]

"Gundam F91" Misfires Too Often

It’s a bad time to be a Universal Century fan. Your original series bombed on television, your movie had several questionable dub errors, and your most-requested title had more delays than the average Nintendo 64 video game. But you’ve got to admire that fire that resides in the original Gundam universe and how it refuses […]

Orange Islands Offer Up Different View of "Pokémon"

So, what do you do when you have an anime based off a wildly popular video game, but the next installment is over a year away? Why, you create a filler saga, of course! So went the thought process of the Pokemon creative staff as they went to work trying to create a workable saga […]

"The Three Musketeers": All For One In One Good DVD

You know, for being Disney’s trademark characters, Mickey Mouse and friends sure don’t appear in many cartoons anymore. Aside from House of Mouse and its DTV, the gang is pretty much relegated to Disneyland. Well, that all changes now, as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy all come together for their very first feature-length film […]

"Yu-Gi-Oh! the Movie" Too Cheesy For Its Own Good

If you don’t know what Yu-Gi-Oh! is, it’s time to get out from under your rock. The latest kids phenomenon from 4Kids Entertainment, Yu-Gi-Oh! has been huge, so it’s only natural that a movie would follow. Hoping for a similar kind of success the first Pokémon movie did, the first dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh! movie has arrived, […]

"Cosplay Complex": An Otaku's Dream Come True

Ask any anime fan what the best part about going to a convention is, and they’ll tell you it’s not seeing anime on a big projection screen. Or the shock when a certain company licenses a popular show to dub. It’s not even watching a huge anime movie before everyone else can. Nope, they’ll tell […]
