Disney animator Glen Keane is leaving his long-time home, The Hollywood Reporter says. Keane, who has been associated with the studio for nearly forty years, says that he is moving on to explore “endless new territories.”
IFC will premiere a new animated series, Out There, in January 2013, Animation Magazine reports. The series, from South Park director Ryan Quincy, is about the early pubescent adventures of a trio of boys living in a small town. It is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
Redakai, Conquer the Kairu will be heading to a clutch of international channels under a series of deals negotiated by Zodiak Kids, kidscreen reports. The series will be heading to the UK’s CiTV this spring, and will also join Denmark’s DR, India’s Disney Network of Channels, and the Baltic republics’ SEA and TV3.
The Jim Henson Company will co-produce a feature-film version of its Sid the Science Kid, World Screen reports. Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will mark its 75th anniversary with a special screening at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Animation Magazine reports. The classic feature–the first produced by Disney–will screen on Saturday, April 14, at 1:00pm as part of Turner Classic Movies’ TCM Festival.
Forty-nine shorts, 55 graduation films, 21 TV series, and 2 TV specials have been selected to screen at the Annecy Festival in June, Animation Magazine reports. TV series nominated include Blue Exorcist, Mike the Knight, Regular Show, and Superjail. The feature film selection for the festival will be announced on April 29.
