K-9 set for Animated Adventures in "Doctor Who" Spin-off

K-9, the sometimes robotic companion of The Doctor in Doctor Who, is set for a spin-off, C21Media reports. Titled K-9 Adventures, the series is under development by Jetix UK and Park Entertainment and will be a mix of CGI and live action. The series follows hot on the heels of the recent Doctor Who revival.

Sony/SkyLife Set to Launch Animation Channel in Korea

Sony Pictures Television International and SkyLife are set to launch a new animation channel in Korea this coming Saturday, April 29, C21Media reports. The new Animax Korea will air a range of animation including Japanese anime and home grown Korean entertainment.

Marathon Sells "Totally Spies" to German Station

French studio Marathon has sold Totally Spies to German station Super RTL, C21Media reports. Slated to begin airing in July, the acquisition makes Germany one of over 100 countries currently airing the series.

Zoo Films/Atomic Cartoons Team Up for Bollywood Road

Nickelodeon UK has picked up the animated series King from Canadian studio Decode Entertainment, C21Media reports. The show targets six- to twelve-year-olds and focuses on 12-year-old Russel, who is crowned king of a fantasy world of monsters he discovers.

FUNimation to Launch Syndicated Block

FUNimation has created a two-hour animation block for syndication airing, C21Media reports. The block will use various Japanese shows which FUNimation hold rights to, such as Yu Yu Hakusho and DragonBall Z.

BBC Picks Up "Postman Pat" Spin-off "Jess"

The BBC has picked up Entertainment Rights CGI pre-school series Jess, C21 Media reports. Starring the sidekick of the long running Postman Pat series, Jess will see the titular black and white cat teach children about the world around them. The show will air on BBC1, BBC2, and the CBeebies channel.
