Adam Sandler readying to set ‘Animals’ on Fox
Daily Variety reports that Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions is teaming with “TV Funhouse” creator Robert Smigel for “Animals,” an animated comedy that’s been sold to Fox Broadcasting. Sandler’s company is also partnering with 20th Century Fox TV on the half-hour show.
“Animals” will be a parody of suburban life, with critters filling in for humans. Smigel and Greg Cohen (“King of the Hill”) will write and exec produce.
Fox has been making a push to develop a new generation of animated comedies, with “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill” both getting up in years (though “Family Guy” and “American Dad” are doing well).
