Aardman and Studiocanal Team for “Shaun the Sheep” Movie

by on April 26, 2013

Deadline.com reports that the UK’s Aardman Animation Studios and France’s Studiocanal have teamed for a Shaun the Sheep feature film, to be written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton. The movie is said to center on Shaun and his flock mounting a rescue mission into the big city to save their slightly oblivious farmer. Shaun the Sheep is a spinoff of Aardman’s successful Wallace and Gromit films, with the title character first appearing in the “Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave” short film before launching into his own successful kids TV series that has been sold in over 170 countries and launched a spinoff of its own in the pre-schooler show Timmy Time. The Shaun feature marks the first collaboration between Aardman and Studiocanal, and the movie will be one of Studiocanal’s lead-in titles for the Cannes Film Festival, where the company is expected to dedicate a day to Shaun.
